Years ago, I read a novel about dogs, except it wasn't really about dogs, because they were all humanoid and stuff. I think it was good, and I want to reread it, but I can hardly remember anything about it, let alone the author or title. I'm pretty sure it was an "adult" book, not a kiddy...
