Actaully, I felt like they cut down on the silliness factor in the movie; It was very toned down compared to the book. I was expecting this big light show type deal and it wasn't that at all. The rest of that scene was kind of...well, crap, I thought. It was my least favorite part of the movie...

Jacob's character is expanded a lot in the next book, which I found to be enjoyable - don't be afraid at all :). In my opinion, the second book was the best of the four. As for the movie... well, just don't expect too much. Lines that were cheesy in the book are even cheesier on screen.

This is probably too obvious - but have you read the books by John Douglas, like Mindhunter and Obsession?
