    smoking in public laws

I've just heard on the news that a free vote in our parliament has voted to ban smoking in all bars and clubs in the UK. About time, great news; no more stinking clothes when I get back after a few pints on a Friday night. Well, next year anyway:) Really don't care what anyone thinks...

If you had £30 to spend on books, what would you choose?

Steffee, I was in Waterstones yesterday and there are some pretty good titles in their 3for2 range. It may be worth a look and would make you £30 go a bit further.

I'm not sure where you should look but I do think you should work on your spelling and try using some punctuation before you start writing for a newspaper.

Just listened to an interview with Kurt Vonnegut on radio four. Very interesting old man I've never read any of his work but some of you may want to listen. Just use the listen again link on the radio four site. The show was Front Row. http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/arts/frontrow/

    Daphne Du Maurier

I completely agree with all your points about Rebecca. I bought it for my wife as a Christmas present and she never picked it up so I thought I'd have a look; I didn't regret it.

    They did it!

Yes, they really did deserve to win today, at times looking like a totally different side to what we're used to. Found myself cheering them on as if it were England; something which few Scotsman would find it possible to do in my experinence;) :)

    1984?

    Umberto Eco: Foucault's Pendulum

I'm reading it right now; about 250 pages in. I've used the dictionary a couple of times but like an earlier poster has said, try not to get bogged down with all the detail some of which could be checked out via Google. I'm really enjoying it and like others have said it blows Dan Browns, thrown...
