Go for "Moby Dick" and then read "In the Heart of the Sea" by Nathaniel Philbrick. This is the story which inspired Melville. Not as much a classic but much easier to get through. A real page turner.
Narnia's still on top
I've just read "The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe" to my six year old. It brought back all the enjoyment it gave me as a ten year old when I first started reading to myself. I'm not sure who enjoyed it the most but we'll soon be starting on "The Magicians Nephew." I must...
Has anyone read "The City of God" by E. L. Doctorow? I'm halfway through reading it for the second time, parts of it are really good, but I seem to be missing something.
The narrative is "the way it is" because it's supposed to seem as if it's written by a 15 year old with Aspergers and to me is by no means annoying.

I like the sound of this book I'll definately give it a go. If you're into nautical stuff you'll enjoy " The heart of the sea" by Nathenial Philbrick. I have'nt time for a full review but basically it's about the whalers out of Nantukett.Unforgetable!

Anna would have been a complete nightmare of a wife . Selfish, jealous ,pretentious. She adored the idea of being outcast from "her "society as long as Vronsky remained with her and her alone and never crossed the line back to his idea of his perfect life . This is why she took the selfish...
I had the same thoughts as you ,wanting George to go free. Try 'The Grapes Of Wrath,' it's probably one of my favourites, beautifully written and very heart rending by the end.l
