    World Cup: Discussion

It was nice to see Ronaldo crying again;).....................I think there're plenty more tears where they came from when he returns to Old Trafford:eek:

Official FIFA Man of the Match: Owen Hargreaves.

Gabriel García Márquez: One Hundred Years of Solitude

I finished this one a month or so ago. Totally agree with you. I felt like I was being told an old family story handed down by generations. Needs to be read at least once more though.

    World Cup: Discussion

I think there were two offsides in that Brazillian move:confused:  If Ghana could have finished even a couple of they're chances it would have been different. They're shooting was abysmal

    Page Turners

'The Da Vinci Code' is a page turner and there are plenty of downsides already well documented on here. On hte other hand I'm reading 'Crime and Punishment' and I would say Dostoevsky doesn't sacrifice anything with this (in my opinion) fast moving plot;)

Need "clean" book suggestions under 200 pages

'The Sea' by John Banville; nothing controversial here. Just beautifully written. Ideal for a sensitive book club.

    World Cup: Discussion

The diving's here to stay but it doesn't make it right though; Sometimes you wonder whether it's built into their training program as it often creates a pivotal situation in a match. Being an England fan it's Joe Cole who worries me. He never just falls down does he? There's always a few...

    World Cup: Discussion

It was a miracle one of the only players who didn't get booked, one of the biggest cheats in the game, Robben; he had a brilliant dive early in the first half that deserved at least a yellow. England; crap first half but more promising in the second half by keeping the ball on the ground a...

Your eBay watch / bought list

We often use two computers at work. You can keep refreshing the screen on one PC and be ready to hit the bid button on the other.

Your eBay watch / bought list

Ebay is excellent for books. There is a program you can use called 'Snipe' (I think). This program cheats and gets the bid in for you at the last possible second. You have to pay, I'm not sure how much but I think you pay for so many uses. I haven't used it myself, I'm not that worried when I lose.

    World Cup: Discussion

True. It's really difficult to play to your strengths when the opposition put all their team behind the ball; you have to keep plugging away until you get the cross and finish inch perfect just as Sweden and England did today. I'm sure their match against each other should bring more open play...

    World Cup: Discussion

Just watched a very ordinary looking Brazil take three points off of an unlucky Croatia; they did deserve something from this game. Just wish the commentators would stop fawning over the Brazilians non-stop. :(

    World Cup: Discussion

Did anyone see the referee give a free kick for the overhead kick in the Dutch game? Imagine if it had gone in:eek: Crazy decision:confused:

    World Cup: Discussion

Sorry Ice; just thought you were having an undeserved dig at the England side. The England side are not reknown for their diving and faking (cheating) antics. In fact we won the World Cup Fairplay award in 1990 and in 1998. I've just watched the Argentina game and also thought the ball was...

    World Cup: Discussion

The first games in the World Cup are always a bit unpredictable. I'm sure the passing will get better as sides become more confidant after their opening matches

    World Cup: Discussion

Ice your comments could have been lifted directly from the BBC message boards which usually degenerate into bad language, mud slinging etc. and get stopped very quickely. Diving and faking injury really annoys me to, but I do believe Gerrard was genuinely in pain. Perhaps Sports discussions...

Who will win the World Cup?

I've always been fairly keen on football and get as excited as the next person if their team is doing well but I've always realised that winning the world cup was always just out of England's reach. This year more than ever I want them to win as my seven year old son George is so much into...
