For everyone, for anyone, for someone...

Too many people try to find meaning and purpose for their lives from an external source when they have the abililty to do it themselves...... In my opinion, outside sources simply allow us to reflect on what we already posess. The more time you look for answers to your life in other places...

For everyone, for anyone, for someone...

Well you can't just quote the beginning or it becomes apathetic! It would be the equivalent of giving up, the opposite of what he is trying to say!! I mean when it gets bad enough that you are cynical about a cynics hopeful quote! huff.

    Kurt Vonnegut

SH5 certainly is the best known one for its antiwar commentary. However, I wouldn't overlook his other works, some of which I find much more interesting. For example, his commentary on the absurdity of the human race, and it's characteristics (Galapagos). My favorite novel of his...

For everyone, for anyone, for someone...

"Still and all, why bother? Here's my answer. Many people need desperately to receive this message: I feel and think much as you do, care about many of the things you care about, although most people do not care about them. You are not alone." -Kurt Vonnegut More often than not, at one...

Robert Pirsig: Zen And The Art Of Motorcycle Maintenance

Yes to both since I'm not sure which you are referring to. Zen in the Art of Archery can easily be read in one sitting, but could probably be reread many times before picking up everything entailed in it.

    I just finished reading...

My comment had nothing to do with insight, it referred to the presence of Zen in it. ZMM was a collection of interesting ideas, but failed to really represent Zen that well.

Robert Pirsig: Zen And The Art Of Motorcycle Maintenance

If someone is looking for an actual introduction to an art of Zen, Zen in the Art of Archery is much closer to that realm.

    F. Scott Fitzgerald: The Great Gatsby

Well said, I'm not sure how to describe it better than that.

    I saw...

A definite improvement seems to be occurring in your writing. Your ideas, ones that used to be muffled, are coming together coherently. I particularly like just reading the first paragraph alone, without the rest. In that paragraph you very delicately touch upon an event outside of time...

Zen in the Art of Archery......a great deal more insight into Zen than the other so called Zen books such as Z.M.M.....
