Ok with Dan Brown, lets just say the proportion of my view of his writing to the common opinion.
While we're on the topic though, David Gutterson....I have never seen a man feel such a necessity for using needless words randomly than he.
Not to stray from Shakespere. But, if you do want something good dealing with Joan D'Arc.....try Saint Joan by George Bernard Shaw. Brilliant man, satire throughout, not only smooth writing but very funny as well.
#%* *&$#%!!!
DAN BROWN! DAN BROWN, DAN BROWN, DAN BROWN....Divinchi Code ...Angels and Demons....only two I can really comment on since I haven't bothered with the others.
I know it's off topic, but noticing your avatar I've been meaning to ask you if you actually play chess Darrren?
If so I'd be more than happy to play a game sometime if you were up for it.
So you would allow your 14 year old kid to have sex with a 23 year old school teacher as long as he wanted it?? That more than frightens me.
Actually not that I've done it, but pure oxygen can create euphoria....the air we breathe is only minutely composed of oxygen you must remember. Therefore, it is in a more diluted form that we inhale actual oxygen as opposed to air ...ie. Nitrogen , Oxygen, CO2 among other things.
Then why post a message in this thread at all? It's the equivalent of going into a thread about an author and posting the message, "I haven't read anything by this author."
It's arbitrary and pointless.....I'm leaving it at that...back to book discussion....
I apologize Lahondas, but because of misunderstandings, I would prefer it if this thread were no longer kept up. Just PM people if you would like to speak with them plz.
Read the first post, I'm fairly certain I explained why. Just because everyone else likes to hope for some made for tv romance doesn't mean it's my intention.
Do you have the power to just end this thread Martin.....if so do it. It seems people are either taking it wrong, or it's just going to go off topic....so might as well just put it out of it's misery I got what I wanted out of it anyway.
Finishing up Galapagos, great book....might have bust into my top five....on to Cosmocomics next, followed most likely by Wabbits suggestion of Was (it's on order, we didn't have it in stock, D'oh!)
I wasn't really asking people's opinions on the matter, I have started four new conversations with people on messengers that I didn't have before......it's intention was to allow people to talk to each other if they so desired without having to post incessantly. I suppose I could have pm'ed...
Great! Looking forward to it...I have to go to a wedding this weekend, and my date is the very girl I'm becoming bored with....so Calvino is going to have to save me from all my reuniting with my moron friends from highschool that will be there.
Just to update, since Litany scolded me for not having MSN , I decided to avoid a sporking to sign up for my first hotmail account since highschool :p
TrueAt1stLight@hotmail.com is my msn screen...feel free Lahondas...but beware I'm not as free about divulging my life secrets, as you seem...
Thank you Abulafia I think Name of the Rose will be my next Eco book. I'm just finishing up Galapagos, and am heading on to Cosmicomics next. After that I am going to face another tough decision :) . I'm enjoying all of the books I'm reading right now so much that I am scolding myself for...
