You should direct your friends to some nice HP adult slash fanfiction....Joking apart I am truly shocked that words such as lorry and biscuit would be altered for a non-British audience. That's so appalling, I am just trying to imagine all of the great non-British books I've read that have been...
I think this will be my Autumn project, mornings of attending to my letter writing. My letters will never be preserved for posterity, but I thank goodness email wasnt around in Jane Austen's day.
And Sirmyk, that took me a minute or two to decipher.....
A Personal Matter by Kenzaburo Oe
''Oe examines the devastation, fear and shame of fathering a brain damaged child. The central character is Bird, a frustrated intellectual in a failing marriage, who dreams of an escape to Africa. The magnitude of Bird's disappointment at the birth of his...

I loved The Border Trilogy, although I found The Crossing a truly upsetting experience. My favourite of his is Blood Meridian. I'll check this out as I haven't read anything of his for ages.
That's twice you've cracked me up this morning Stewart.
The so-called twist in The Village was so obvious right from the start of the film, it should be ashamed to call itself a twist at all. I sat through the entire film waiting to be surprised by something, and all that surprised me was...
I'm not doing anything today. Eight hours on the beach yesterday followed by going out to dinner and not getting to bed until 2.30 am and I'm a bit worse for wear.* I just spent ages mulling over the hotbabes thread looking for mention of Angelina Jolie, and that's about as lively as I'm going...
