My suggestion is that you pick a Stephen King novel (any one, it doesn't really matter) and start with the last page!

Now that I've put the tissues away, and sufficiently pulled myself together, I see that you have 'Sons & Lovers' lined up next in your TBR. Let me know what you think of it; I read that when I was at school, and it has always been my favorite of the classics.
Thanks everyone for the time you've taken in suggesting various novels for me to try. My TBR list is now huge, and I've just started to receive the first few books in from my library that have been suggested in this thread.

Well, this is a strange novel to say the least! This belongs in the 'serial killer/whodunnit genre' but has rather a strange twist - the narrator is a serial killer himself, and finds that he has another killer on his turf!

I don't give a hoot whether a book is on the bestseller list or not. I read simply for relaxation and escapism.
Although, having said that, I haven't yet read The Da Vinci code. I do intend reading it, just to see what all the fuss is about!
