It's a dating service for people 50 and over. Trust me, not my niche. LOL Perhaps I'm posting about old writers and old books and somehow that gets calculated by some weird program.
Hemingway was a romantic and his work has some definite highs(The sun also rises) and of course, he had some tremendous lows. I believe you can find any predominant emotion in a given work of his.
The best Lysander Spooner website out there.:D My favorite piece that he wrote was the constitution of no authority. I would definitely agree with you in regards to American libertarianism being *classical* liberalism. It's amazing how terms can sometimes have radically different meanings over...
Bastiat's The Law is an interesting read on political theory. I have read his other minor works and when it comes to Libertarian thought, you're right, they are very succinct and to the point. I would definitely have someone start with him. The "dismal science" that is economics, most...
Just finished Of a fire on the moon. It's a jaded romantic's take on the coming age of technology and scientism. Interesting chapters include "'the psychology of astronauts" and "the psychology of machines." The author details the staid, anti-sceptic environment that was NASA in the '60s...
Excellent points Peder. I would add that I don't know if the transcendentalists would appreciate being grouped in with "that old time religion." The author cited Harriet Beecher Stowe's work as evidence for "the novel" during this time period as having a strong religious favor. Perhaps there...
Cussler is a good author, he is an entertaining read and he definitely fits the bill of "page turner." He's not in my pantheon of "favorite" though-he doesn't dare come and sit at the table with me, Dostoyevsky, Turgenev, and Steinbeck. :)
don't sweat it, it's all good.
the mother of those guys is something else......can't wait for her to explain how her boy in the boat shooting back at cops is innocent.....waiting eagerly. :)
Oh Polly, just thought I'd add a little noir. The site is one of the "big" noir sites around. His last book was an amazon top 100 lister and he is up for an award for this short story. I've run into him a time or two, one good guy.
Dude, just playing off of Sparky's comment. If anything, we both should be ticked at him. That's o.k., he's just smarting over the whole Yorktown thing and how we should have let the syphilitic inbred royal have his way on taxes. :p
Diehard liberals aren't much better. If I hear one more...
Feeling Good is one that is widely used by therapists and psychologists. I learned of it as it was a required read for one of the four counseling classes that I took before I veered towards education. Best of luck to you.
Very well put. The closest we can get to ConsciousBob's comment was that the uncle said the boys were losers. Since then, There does appear to be some interesting hints at radicalizing. The religious angle is always fascinating to me as the bombers tend to be well educated in fields such as...
