Hey Ice Hockey Fans !!!!! Deal?

I was >this< close to going to see an Ice Hockey game for real earlier this year, me and Ice were looking for somewhere to go for our annual anniversary city break, and the Maple Leafs were on a home series. Unfortunately we were away from Friday to Monday and they were playing Thursday &...

do you keep a book list?

I have to say, I never kept a book list before the start of this year, but I do now. It has different sections for the big list of all the books that I want to read, the books that I am currently reading or have waiting to be read, and the ones that I have already read. I find it quite...

Hey Ice Hockey Fans !!!!! Deal?

I have been interested in American sports for over a decade now, despite the god-awful coverage they get here in Britain. However, when I made my initial choices of teams to support, I always seem to get them wrong :D So, I have ended up with the NY Rangers, The Chicago Cubs, and the San...

    Tragedy in London

I think the moral of this story is - if an armed police officer is pointing a gun at you, you do whatever the hell it is that they want you to do. Especially with the current climate being as it is, tension must be pretty high in the city. I think him having 'leave' is a polite way to term...

Whats the longest you have ever spent buying a book

I would love to spend all day in bookshops, but I get kicked out after I spend too long in them now, I think Ice has a set time limit for how long I'm allowed in the library too, at a certain point she jut drags me off to the counter :( Phil

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince - Discussion *Spoiler Alert*

You're telling me, and I have to live with her ;) It was a good book, much tighter paced than OOTP as has been said (and not so damn boring either, occlumancy was dull). Yes there was a tad too much teenage hysteria, but then they are all meant to be sixteen ... and did anyone notice Harry's...

Assorted Chit Chat From FAQ Posts

I could tell you all what I call her, but apparantly that one has to stay in the bedroom ... sheesh!! :D Go easy on Accy Boy by the way, he's a bit of a novice when it comes to this technology stuff, too many hours spent studying hard I'm sure ;) Phil

    Books set in China/Japan?

Amy Tan's 'The Joy Luck Club' has certain segments set in China, during the Japanese invasion (I presume this was some time during World War II, although I confess to being historically ignorant in this regard). Phil

All expenses paid trip to any TBF member

A friend of mine went out to Russia last year, he enjoyed himself no end (Although I got the strange idea he spent a considerable amount of his time drinking vodka in bars). Phil

All expenses paid trip to any TBF member

Right, who lives in Rio, that where I'm off to :D Seriously, I'm half tempted to choose Ashley or someone else who lives in Texas!! Last time I went I was about fifteen and it was great. I walked out of the air-conditioned airport in a jumper and jeans to be hit in the face by 100 degrees...

Hitcher's Guide to the Galaxy -how does the film compare?

Erm ... you know Pluto is kinda cold dont you ;) The relative temperature of a planet is entirely to do with how close the planet is to its sun/s .. not how many of them there are. Anyways, thats besides the point, I enjoyed the movie :) Phil
