That's very thoughtful of you :flowers: The James Cameron thing wouldn't be too bad on its own, it's the bad translation that kills me... Let me give you an example: when Sean Penn won for Milk, they actually translated the title of the movie (that dreadful woman actually said "Leche", I wanted...
Saw The Blind Side last night. Loved it.
Trying to catch up with the nominations before Sunday so planning on watching The Hurt Locker, An Education and Crazy Heart this weekend. Don't think I'll watch the Oscars though. For one thing, the only network broadcasting the ceremony for Latin...
I actually like The Mentalist quite a lot, and get a kick out of watching Patrick Jane annoy people (Lisbon) :D
As for The Eleventh Hour, I've only seen the US version, starring a British actor doing an American accent (Rufus something, has played the bad guy in like every other movie). I...
Anybody seen a movie starring Hilary Swank and Simon Baker? I think it's called The Affair of the Necklace. Painful to watch, really painful. I've only seen HS in The Karate Kid 4 and 90210 so I really have no idea why she would win an Oscar, let alone 2. I didn't buy her performance, not for...
Well, you won't be a "young adult" forever but your love affair with books will last a lifetime :D
But there's nothing wrong with enjoying TV and movies as well. Which I do, A LOT. One of the thrills of being a reader who also enjoys movies and TV is that sometimes you can tell where the...
How was it? I briefly thought about buying that one instead of the Book of the Month for March, which I for some reason thought was Three Cups of Tea. Then I realised it was Water for Elephants, but the bookstore didn't haveit. So I ended up buying Tuesdays with Morrie, which is the non-fiction...
Good, finally a book I own!
I almost bought Three Cups of Tea thinking it was Book of the Month for March but then I remembered the elephants... I think I need to start writing things down :D
Ce cher BHL !
Great picture, did they get his wife, too? :D Someone gave me American Vertigo as a present before I left France, I'm sorry I decided to pack it, I could've had room for another Corto Maltese...
I also recently read a book called Boleros en La Habana, by Roberto Ampuero...
I saw Invictus last Thursday :stars5: :stars5:
I absolutely loved it. I was close to tears for the whole 2+ hours (and needed a bathroom break real bad for the last hour). I knew I would like it, but since I knew (like most people, I would assume) what it was about and how it ended, I was...
I don't entirely disagree with you (:D how's that for a "French" statement?). Some of her books I absolutely love (Stupeur et tremblements, Métaphysique des tubes, Ni d'Eve ni d'Adam) but others have left me with a very strong WTF? feeling.
I would still say she's one of my favorite writers...
