Ahhh (nostalgic sigh)... good ol' RL Stine. What would the heady days of my youth been mispent doing had it not been for the gripping Goospebumps series? We shall never know, for I was as obsessed as all my school chums. I only remember reading from the intital series (none of this Give Yourself...
132 cents/litre here. Not sure how this converts to US/UK/elsewhere, but it's not as high as at some points last year. I usually walk to work as it's only 15 mins.
I would consider Arthur Dent of H2G2 to be the most lovable loser I have ever read about - unlucky in love, dragged unwittingly across the universe with no cup of tea in sight, beaten in the cool department by a narcissistic alien with two heads - he has it all.
And Marvin would also qualify, i...
I'm partial to horror, myself. Hunt around here and you'll find me harping about Stephen King and bagging out Richard Laymon (sorry, fans).
I've not read much chick lit, besides stuff like The Nanny Diaries, if that counts. What are some of your favourites? We have a small chick lit thread...
Welcome, Rysa (if I may!). I'm sure you'll fit in very well . Geography doesn't really matter here, as long as you love to discuss books (and sometimes wander off topic).
I've heard this too, and I think a lot of the criticism stems from his brother, Malachy, who also wrote a memoir based on their childhood. He claimed that much of the detail of their early years was fabricated.
Look, I really don't mind, as it just enhances the story. You don't want to read...
Oooh, I'm really looking forward to seeing this one. And just to go completely off-topic and turn this into a 'movies I'm dying to see' thread, I'm off to Spiderman 3 tonight (yay!), and I'll be first in line when The Host comes to a local cinema.
This is the only Burke I have read, and I loved it. I have Heaven's Prisoners on my TBR pile.
Oooo, I don't know. I mean, I love Tommy, but I don't really see him as Dave. Hopefully the director is competent enough to pull of the incredible atmosphere of the novel.
Oooo, sciencegirl, you is asking for it, you is. Shall I tell her the general consensus on Mr. Brown? No, perhaps I'll let everyone speak for themselves....teehee.
Apologies, I have consumed a few beverages tonight, and Dan Brown is subsequently more hilarious than usual.
Damn you Claybugg. Although I have not read The Crucible, so according to my logic I should not be recommending it anyway.
Welcome Spin. Another King fan! My army is building....mwah ha ha ha etc.
I just watched Confetti. It made me all girly - sobbing and the like. How annoying for a semi-tomboy such as myself. It must be the gooey Jessica Stevenson/Martin Freeman/Olivia Colman/Robert Webb love (not all at once). Good to see all my lovelies in the one place for my viewing pleasure (I...
I have to do a lit review for my research project next year (it's fourth year but I'm doing it part-time, so research gets put off - hooray). Is it something like that? It's kind of a mini-thesis thing. We have to present it to fellow students, probably in preparation for what Novella is talking...
