I grew up well before all of these technical wonders came into the world, but I fully embrace them all.

I used to re-read books all the time and then went through a stage where I thought I would never re-read a book again. However, in the last year or so I find myself re-reading all sorts of books.
In the end, I think it depends on the book itself. For me anyway.
I dislike physical books. Big, bulky and you have to find a way to store them. I would never purchase a physical book again and dislike even reading them when I get them from the library. My preferred e-reader is my iPhone but I have a Kindle and an iPad that I use at home.
Sometimes I find silence itself distracting, I like a little background noise going on most of the time. Still, at the end of the day I can read just about anywhere as long as someone isn't trying to have a conversation with me........and sometimes I can read through that too. lol.
Different types really. I've been trying to branch out and read stuff outside of my normal comfort zone.
