    Is amazon good for customers?

He's definitely for being facetious anyway.

1984 : Science Fiction or Political Horror?

I agree. If you didn't say this I was going to ask if it has to be one or the other. A dystopian classic. Have you read We or Brave New World? I liked both even better than 1984.

    Book of the Month 2012

I'll second all of these: collections anthologies (I like this for the range of authors/stories to comment on) graphic novels (usually nice and short, could pack into same month as another category or read more than 1) memoirs/biographies (I can do without the politicians, athletes, movie...

    Western Steampunk?

My wife says that one was good. Priest has another called Dreadnought that sounds similar. Other ideas: Hexslinger series - Gemma Files Territory - Emma Bull (wife also says this one is good)

    Science Fiction

I know. I like to think some exec said "there's really no science going on here, f*** it let's change the name." Yeah, I think most people probably feel this way. I hadn't really thought about it until I'd heard the argument from professionals who've spent their lives immersed in the genre...

    Science Fiction

There is a concern among some fans that science fiction and sci-fi are being used interchangeably yet have come to represent separate genres. There's so much called sci-fi that is absolutely science-free. Like Harlan Ellison said "2001 is science fiction, giant ant movies are sci-fi...that's the...

    STUXNET book in the works

That's one I'd like to read too even though a lot of programming speak might go right over my head.

Jorge Luis Borges: Book of Sand

This story reminds me of a show I just watched about the possibility of parallel universes. No beginnings, no ends, endless copies of everything and so forth. My first Borges story. Thanks Libra.

In Their Own Words: GOP Candidates And Science

We shouldn't even debate the idea even if it can be reversed or at least slowed down to a point that gives us a longer time to adapt? It's never been a question whether the Earth will be okay but about those who have to live (or die) with it. This is a misunderstanding I've seen from both...

What 2011 releases are you listening to ?

It's good. It's all covers but one. They're mostly not real well known blues songs that he covers though so that makes it better for me.

In Their Own Words: GOP Candidates And Science

From what I've read Huntsman is actually known as a moderate despite being from such a conservative state. He is for civil unions and reformed Utah's backwards alcohol laws. Although you still can't buy beer stronger than 4% ABV in non-state-run stores!

    last/next concert ?

Not quite sure but if that's a reference to Friday Night Lights you appear to have Mogwai confused with Explosions in the Sky.....who, by the way, I may go see in a couple days. Definitely going to see James McMurtry (son of Larry McMurtry for all you Lonesome Dove fans out there) on 9/23.
