She's written non-fiction? I'll have to look that up. :) I do recall that she wrote a book, or a series of essays about the process of writing, but I haven't read it.
^Good idea! I looked at the link someone posted earlier, but I've just realised that I should be able to find it on Project Gutenberg. I'll give it a go. :)
My favourte Atwood book is Alias Grace. It's also the first one I read, and I'm quite glad I started with that one.
I've also read The Blind Assassin, Cat's Eye, The Handmaid's Tale, The Robber Bride, Lady Oracle and Oryx and Crake. All were quite good, but not comparable to Alias Grace, IMO.
Good review. The thing that puts me off most is the price. Also, I already have a Palm TX for reading ebooks. I own quite a few, but I've only actually read one on my TX. :o I didn't find it too bad, but I definitely prefer paper versions.
I've read the following:
Nineteen Eighty Four-Orwell, George
Grapes of Wrath, The-Steinbeck, John
Animal Farm-Orwell, George
Lord of the Flies-Golding, William
Catcher in the Rye, The-Salinger, J. D.
To Kill a Mockingbird-Lee, Harper
Charlotte's Web-White, E. B.
Hobbit, The-Tolkien, J...
I looked for this at the local library today, but they don't have any copies. I'll have to try the library in the next town over.
The garlic thing made me chuckle, because I do (or try to do  ) that as well.
Can't think of others on the top of my head, but I'm sure there are plenty.
I don't hate you, I don't even know you.
I was answering AquaBlue's questions about which series he should read next. I didn't realise it would offend you to comment about a variety of books he asked about. I shall make sure I post about even more books next time.
Beowulf - I quite enjoyed this. I thought it would be pure silliness, but there was quite a story behind it.
The Mosquito Coast - I watched this years ago, but didn't remember much of it. It was a good film, except Harrison Ford's character went a bit over the top in the end.
The Thing - a...
Awww, bless you! I look forward to being followed by you.
So...what did you mean by 'Is this a race?'. You never answered my question.
I'm not a speed reader, but I do find the pace at which I read depends on the book. A thriller is easier to read fast, but something a bit deeper requires more time to digest.
I've read The Dark Tower series, and loved it. Some of the books dragged - mainly 5 - 7, but the first 4 were thoroughly entertaining.
Earth's Children was one of my favourites when I was younger. However I gave The Valley of Horses a re-read last year, and thought it was contrived...
I bought this book a while ago, but just couldn't get into it. It wasn't the story, but rather the writing style that bothered me. It's a shame, as I think he must have led an amazing life. I ended up giving the book away to a friend, but maybe one day I'll give it another go.
Monster and Citizen X are two that stand out for me.
I didn't enjoy Zodiac all that much. It just seemed to drag on and on. It would have been much better if they'd trimmed it down a little.
