I'm most comfy reading at home, either on the bed, the floor or the sofa. I can't read in public places, as I get distracted quite easily and am often looking up to see what is going on. I could quite easily read on the train (when I used to catch it to work) though, as I could just put my head...
My June reads were:
The Interpretation of Murder - Jed Rubenfeld (very enjoyable book, a bit of a 'who-dunnit', with some 'red herrings' thrown in along the way).
The Swarm - Frank Schatzing (long and dense read; highly recommended).
Monday Mourning - Kathy Reichs (Meh...run-of-the-mill...
I'm a re-reader. I like picking up the extra details the second time around. Sometimes, it's also just nice to revisit something familiar that I know I'll enjoy. :)
The Stand is my all time favourite book. I have to admit to being disappointed by his recent books, but I'll always pick them up and give them a go. I haven't read Lisey's Story yet though.
I read this years ago, and I remember being quite.....distressed....when Cujo started feeling funny. :( The other memorable bit was when the mother and son (I think?) were stuck in the car with Cujo out there trying to get at them. I'd love to re-read it. :)
I'm reading The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins, though I haven't picked it up in about a week. I also started Louis Theroux's The Call Of The Weird last night.
My problem with reading non-fiction (well, and fiction sometimes :p ), is that my memory is atrocious about the details. There will...
I'm planning on reading this book shortly. I find it tops most Top 100 (or whatever) Books lists, so I'm really curious to see what the fuss is about. :)
I have a lot of my books in boxes back in Australia, but I would guess that I have around 200. A lot of them are unread, even though I bought them years ago. If I see something I really like then I have to buy it, even though I know it will be a while before I get around to reading it. :o
Very rarely. :o Often I don't want to stop the flow of my reading. However, if something unusual catches my eye, I go to my computer and Google it to see if I can find more about it.
I picked up a few from a street market last week:
The Mosquito Coast - Paul Theroux
Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell - Susanna Clarke
Woman on the Edge of Time - Marge Piercy
In March, I read:
Memoirs of a Geisha - Arthur Golden
Needful Things - Stephen King
The Testament - John Grisham
Started Grotesque - Natsuo Kirino
Started and gave up on Harlequin by Bernard Cornwell.
I have another nomination (greedy, aren't I? :p ). This one's a non-fiction, and I know it has been read or is about to be read by a few people here; I'm sure it would be an interesting discussion topic. :D ;)
The God Delusion - Richard Dawkins
Synopsis taken from Amazon:
Richard Dawkins...
I'll second Master and Commander - that's a great film.
But the first movie that popped into my mind was A Room with a View. However, that's pretty strictly romance, so it's probably not what you're looking for. Good flick though. :)
Went to Trago Mills (:o :p ), and bought some uninteresting stuff. Played Animal Crossing on my DS for a fair bit, and also did some reading. :D Oh, and played with the dog, because he needs lots of attention. :D
Here's my nomination! :D I've just started this book, and it's a fantastic read. :)
Grotesque - Natsuo Kirino
Readers with a taste for ambiguity and oddball characters will enjoy this twisted novel of suspense from Japanese author Kirino (Out). The Apartment Serial Murders case, which...
I thought I’d start a thread on this book, even though I’m only about half way through it. It has received mixed reviews on Amazon, plenty of them negative, usually complaining that the book wasn’t another Out.
Briefly, the story is about the murder of two Tokyo prostitutes, both...
