Suggestions: June 2006 Book of the Month

Yus! It was head-to-head with Jonathon Strange & Dr Norrell for ages. I really thought it had a shot! :D

    What books have you hated?

 Really? This one is on my TBR list; I recently picked it up at a second had book store. I thorougly enjoyed Watership Down as well, so I figured I'd like Shardik.

    Page Number Check

I do that occasionally - usually when my mind wanders, and I flip the page and the first word I read doesn't flow with what I've just read. :o

    A Garfield Cartoon

    Awwww - I love Garfield. :)

    What do you do.......

I work as an accountant. Blech. Bad career choice. I'd like to get into something science-oriented, but I can't go back to uni again.

    Question Game

Drive definately. You see so much more, and can stop and do little detours. :) Do you read every new post on TBF when you log in, or just the ones that interest you?

    Jet Trails

Interesting thing about contrails, is that since I moved to the UK I've been seeing them everywhere. It's as though every freaking plane has a contrail here. Back home in Australia, I'd only see them occassionally. I'm so impressed by them, I point them out everytime I see them. :o

    Kate Mosse: Labyrinth

I've been wanting to read this, because it sounds like it would be a good read. However, I don't think it got a good rating at Amazon.com, so that has been putting me off.

    James Herbert: Others

Haven't read this one, sorry. I've only read Fluke, by James Herbert, and I'm about to read Creed shortly. If I enjoy it, then I'll probably pick up some of his other books.

    Stephen King: Dark Tower Series

Glad you decided to stick with it, and glad you are enjoying it. :D IMO, the series peaks with Wizard and Glass; I wasn't a huge fan of the books after that, though I still liked them.

When to give up on a book

Even a really bad book? Do you not find that your mind wanders, and it's just impossible to keep up with the story?

    Last Great Book You Bought

Out by Natsuo Kirino. One of the best books I've read. I originally borrowed it from the library, then picked up a copy off Ebay.

    American Idol 2006

Not as bad as Lisa Tucker's rendition of Because of You. Very cringeworthy.

    What books have you hated?

I was very disappointed in the book as well. I was expecting much more of the sci-fi element, but found it to be so drawn out with the narrator and his brother's description of what was happening to the people/town etc. Yawn.

    Dean Koontz

I liked him a lot when I was younger, but these days I find his writing to be irritating. Mind you, I just borrowed Life Expectancy from the library yesterday - I just keep on trying to find something I like by him.

    I think I'm just dumb...

Will do. ;) The library has saved me a fortune. :D

    Weirdest book

I agree with you on that one. House of Leaves was just nuts.
