Thomas Harris: The Silence Of The Lambs

I finished Hammibal Rising about a month ago. I thought it was good. I'll eat up anything that gives me more insight into Hannibal Lecture (pun intended).

    Clockwork Orange: Movie Vs. Book

The book was good, "Real horror-show". The slang was my favourite part of the book. It was scarry how easily I picked it up.

J.R.R. Tolkien: The Children Of Hurin

The book is worth buying for the illustrations alone.

Stephen King: The Dark Tower Series

Not sure if it was mentioned in this thread, but there are two versions of The Gunslinger. The revised version is expanded throughout the novel. Personally, I thought The Gunslinger was a great start to the series, but it was clear that King didn't have a vision of the story from the...

    Banned books

Why isn't the bible banned. In the first chapter you have examples of rape, incest, murder, slavery, and don't forget the way women are treated.

    Your favorite fantasy series

The Lord of the Rings. I thought Harry Potter was a fun read. Let's see what Rowling does for an encore. My pridiction is, not much.

J.R.R. Tolkien: The Lord Of The Rings

I also think The Two Towers is the best of the books (if you consider LOTR a trilogy). I love how Tolkien separates the story. Aragon/Legolas/Gimli go on but they have no idea what’s going on with Frodo and Sam. The reader doesn’t know either. We lose these characters for 200 pages, but...

What did you read in May?

Frankenstein-M. Shelley. A Classic that I read in highschool. The Old Testament- (The first 4 books). What can I say. I can't believe a religion was founded on this book. 1st to Die-J. Patterson. Blaze-S. King. Good book. I'm now reading Of Mice and Men. If you read Blaze you'd know why.

    Stephen King/Richard Bachman: Blaze

Blaze is the last book that Stephen King wrote as Richard Bachman. King calls it a trunk novel. Back when he wrote it, it was not good enough to publish, but now it is (Maybe it’s because King can write a recipe for vegetable soup and sell 5 million copies). In any case, Blaze is not a great...

    Is there a God?

Finished Deuteronomy, now I need a break. If there is a god, he certainly isn't the one as described in the first 4 books of the Old Testiment.

    Shakespeare's Plays

Macbeth is my favourite, but I haven't read Hamlet or Othello. I plan to tackle these soon. Julius Caesar is one of note too. It was the first Shakespeare play I read.

June 2008 - Book Group Suggestions

Some of you must be super book-heads. I haven’t heard of many of these titles being suggested, and I’m a little intimidated of making any suggestions, but here it goes. Dickens-Hard Times, The Mystery of Edwin Drood, Oliver Twist, A Tale of Two Cities Hemingway-A Farewell to Arms, The Sun...
