Chances are he's a lost cause and not worth the effort from our point of view. Nor is it in my interest to coddle someone like that. I'm here to discuss literature with other fans of it, not dumb kids looking for homework assistance. Maybe someone more personal to him can alter his course but...
You also may want to try contacting independent stores. There's a place near me called Pickwick Books that's very good at tracking that sort of book down. I poked around a bit and culdn't find a Web site for this store. I'm not surprised really considering the store. There must be an...
I have a spreadsheet. Sheet one is books I've read. Sheet two is books I want to read. The spread sheet contains data such as whether I own them or not, which printing, how many pages and how long I've taken to read them. Not quite as comprehensive as headpodd's spreadsheet appears to be but...
I thought you meant Joyce was an obscure author not that he wrote obscurely. Well I see what you're getting at but while I don't think it's a misuse of 'obscure' it's not how I would word it. You mentioned accessibility, I think that's a better term.
I had no difficulties using the...
Sometimes a guy has no clue what it's like to be female. :o
I hate when other people's pets are in my yard. This one damn cat is getting the vinegar and water solution squirted at it five or six times a week.
I hate when people mask their shower inactivity with deodurants and...
You presume I'm conditioned to say Joyce is genius King is a hack. You're wrong. To be honest I don't find the Joyce poem above particularly great. Although the last 2 lines do more for me than all of the King poem that may have more to do with me than the intellect of either writer. To say...
Compare King to Joyce?!
I hardly hear the purlieu cry
Or a Tommy talk as I pass one by
Before my thoughts begin to run
On F. M'Curdy Atkinson,
The same that had the wooden leg
And that filibustering fillibeg
That never dared slake his drouth,
Magee that had the chinless mouth.
Being afraid to...
I've decided that I will read one non-fiction book a month. Since school I haven't touched the stuff but after Bryson's *Short History of Nearly Everything and Diamond's Guns, Germs, and Steel I've paid more attention to the non-fiction available and it looks exciting. I don't really have a...
Quite often threads that belong in "Fiction" end up in "General Book Discussion". Maybe the two could be condensed? The concept is poor but in practice it may work to have them merged.
Not a bad idea as it's a great form of fiction but it may be a little too esoteric to have a forum dedicated to it. I can't imagine it being a terribly busy forum. For example the Fiction and General Book Discussion threads aren't exactly overflowing with threads about Rutherford and Michener now.
Wow. Very well written post for a 16 year old. Not that it's never done but it's rare.
I'm not very well versed in this field but regardless I have some suggestions.

Couple weeks ago I got a decent deal on a 1991 BMW 318i. How well this 15 year old car handles blows my mind. Not incredibly fast in a straight line but when you don't need to brake for the turns that's ok. :D
