However, if David Copperfield is your first Dickens I would suggest a shorter book. Great Expectations, Hard Times, A Tales of Two Cities or Oliver Twist.
Glitter & Greed : The Secret World of the Diamond Cartel looks like it could be good but it's a few years old. There have been innovations in diamond manufacturing in the last couple years that I'd like covered in the book I pick up.

Being bibliophiles we appreciate books for more than just the tales. We like how they feel in our hands, the texture of covers, the smoothness of pages, the smell, whether aged or new and of course the artwork...
Well that's just it! The book does end then Kay straps on this schmoltzy shit that is inconsistent with the rest of the book with no real purpose. Maybe for the sake of a Happily Ever After. Unnecessary.
I wouldn't dare buy a book off the shelf anymore. There's so little that can be told from a synopsis and shitty marketing endorsements on the cover. I have such a tremendous amount of books and authors I know about that I don't need to take chances like that.
This is one reason I did not start the Olympic Challenge. Too binding for me. As soon as I'd choose a non-challenge book it'd be difficult for me to get back into it. I do think the challenge has merit though.
Indeed! I used to plan my reading four or five books in advance. I've stopped because often a book comes up that I want to read immediately but I deprive myself of it because it's not set to be the next book and I'd feel guilty delaying books which were to be next. Now instead of having the...
Can you only watch one tv series? One movie? Listen to one musical artist? Not a perfect comparison but it works well enough. The only reason I do not read more than a book at a time is that I find it actually slows me down in the long run.
With the movie out starring Leo it's finally going to be a more commonly discussed topic. The evils of the diamond industry. It's faceted in evil. ;) Anyone know of a book detailing all the dispicable things done for silly little rocks?
