There are so many from the series I could quote! But I'll only add one more:
"'Ford', he said, 'You're turning into a penguin. Stop it.'"
:D
Here's something from Iain Banks' Walking on Glass:
"'A tree house?' Graham teased back. 'Wasn't that a bit bunch?' Slater replied tartly: 'I...
I know there's an author (who isn't very good) with my name... but last year I read an except for a book which sounded ok, but one of the characters who died near the start had the same name (with an extra e added on the end) as my boyfriend and it was totally off putting. I didn't buy that book...
Yesterday I got:
Mort by Terry Pratchett
Captives/Breeding Ground by Shaun Hutson (a double book)
Blue Diary by Alice Hoffman
Madame Wu's Art of Chinese Cooking by Sylvia Wu
Whit by Iain Banks

I didn't get through much either this month because I was on holiday and didn't find much time to read.
The Handmaid's Tale - Margaret Atwood
Big Fish - Daniel Wallace
Post Secret - Frank Warren
Wizardology - Dugald Steer
I loved Post Secret so much and will continue to say this. It was...
I treated to myself to a lovely book yesterday when I was in Glasgow and I'm planning to read through it tonight.
Post Secret by Frank Warren.
It was a project where people had to send in their secrets on postcards and they were all put together into the one volume. It's a great book and...
While on holiday I bought a book called Fear and Trembling by Amelie Nothomb. If it was up to me I would have rescued more of the cheap books but my boyfriend pried me away from them saying something about them making my luggage heavy...
I hope everything goes well lady.cordelia. :)
This weekend is the start of the October break here in Scotland and I'm going on my first vacation in 9 years! Plus, it's the first time I've left the UK since I was 4! :p I'm off to Florida with my boyfriend and his family for the whole 2 weeks...
I play drums and piano (and keyboard if that counts as different). I tried to learn the violin but gave up because the strings really hurt my fingers. :o
It was a slow, slow month for me.
The Emancipation of Women - D.C. Brooks
Alias Grace - Margaret Atwood
I did also finish Ecstacy by Irvine Welsh from August and I started Brave New World by Aldous Huxley... so it wasn't just those two really. :o
I live in Britain and it had much less of an impact over here, but it was a great shock none the less. I don't know anyone over there personally so I had no real connection to it like some of you guys have.
I was at school that day and didn't find out until I got home and my mum told me and...
I've debated buying it for a while, and was a bit fuzzy-headed today because of a cold and decided just to get it and see. I guess I'll be leaving this for a while until I have nothing else to read then...

Shanghai Baby - Wei Hui (£2.97 new)

I was at the open day at Glasgow University yesterday and found myself buying 2 books from the nearby Fopp for just £7 for the two.
Waiting - Ha Jin
Running with Scissors - Augusten Burroughs
August wasn't too bad a month for me. I finished:
Surfacing - Margaret Atwood (started in July)
The Good Women of China - Xinran
Eragon - Christopher Paolini
Animal Farm - George Orwell
A Room with a View - E.M. Forster
Keir Hardie and the Labour Party - Hyman Shapiro (a really short...
I've got 50-60 books waiting to be read on my shelves but I'm also quite shocked at my list of books I still want to buy! I have book tokens that I *still* haven't used from August because I can't choose which books to get and my list of wanted books is over 250 now. :o
A few of the books...
This is the only book forum I visit, but I do visit a few on other subjects. My favourite forum is a little games walkthrough and help site called Walkthroughs from the-geek but it is currently down at the moment because of a recurring hacker problem. :( It *should* be back up soon though.
