    Peoples Attitudes About Reading:

Like spark said, it takes effort and there's no instant gratification. I think most people would love to read if they were to have that one great experience with a book. Sort of like winning on your first try at the horse track... you're hooked from then on.

Do you read more male/female writers?

    Peder kills discussions? DISCUSS!

I really don't see what the big deal here is. I've never once thought Peder ever "killed" a conversation and if you do, I would venture to guess that's a "you" problem. Granted, I haven't been around for as long as most of you guys, but seriously, and speaking for the thread in question, if...

Convicted Felon In Need of Some Networking

Sup :) I don't know if there are any Goodwills in Florida, but they usually are a great place to start for people in your situation. Goodwill helps parolees get jobs in their areas.

    Hubert Selby Jr

Ok I finished The Demon today. My previous statement about Selby being disgusted with humanity was amplified by about 1000 after reading this. Lots of authors attempt the "sane person who loses his mind" story, but no one will compete with this book in that regard. I've never been more...

Alice Sebold: The Lovely Bones *spoilers*

You'll see my opinions in the thread that Landslide linked to. Not terrible.. I wouldn't not recommend it, but don't go out of your way, haha. It would be a perfect airplane book. Easy to read.

When to give up on a book

The farthest I've ever made it into a book before giving up was 100 pages into Letting Go by Phillip Roth. I really should have stopped at 50.
