well my first language is spanish, and i read a lot of books in english, i rather read the books in its original language for a) i dont have to wait months for the book to be translated into spanish b)when the hard edition in spanish is out, the soft one usually is already out in english

im going to venture a guess here, havent been following the editions of harry potter but my guess is that is fairly new, so being aimed towards younger audiences, a big factor is if the translated edition has been published yet.
well i also got curious about what were the most selled books would be in my country, i expected it to be mostly american or brit authors, but thankfully was wrong

yes i agree on some, but not all, im for letting the first post and the thread title to determine if the thread is themed or open, i have nothing agaisnt senseless spaming in an open theme thread, and even some "mild" spam on the themed ones, but i think is disrespecful to the author trying to...
dont disscart something without at least giving a try before, at least you could read some sugestions about it.
a little organization wont necesary kill the flow and ebb of the conversation, for example we could simple decide to jump to lets say the "what's everyone up to today? " and talk...
you are right, shouldnt care for what is talked about, but care for it being talked in an organized fashion, and for it not to become a platform for trolling and/or flaming
as said before the problem is not the spam
