Has anyone else finished Constant Princess yet? I'm at about page 300 and have to say it is DRAGGING. Boelyn Girl, Queen's Fool and even Virgin's Lover all flew by, but this one has taken me over a week to get to this point.
What has everyone else thought?
One Hundred Years of Solitude and anything by Milan Kundera. All books I own, want to read and just can't seem to get into. I'll start reading, be really into the book then put it down and never be able to get into it again. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. And that stuff is WAY to deep to read in one...
Being poor means my TBR "pile" is only in my head. Though, and this is sad, as I get books from the library they are stacked in the order I plan to read them next to my bed. I have nine days off right around the corner and I'm in the process of stacking my pile from the library. Someday...
The Giver; Number the Stars; both by Lois Lowry.
Also, Stepping on the Cracks by Mary Downing Hahn.
Judy Blume and Jean Little.
These are all books that I ADORED when I was her age, which was actually only about ten years ago.
I'm kind of funny, during the day I can't read in bed because 90% of the time I'll fall asleep. However at night, I'll often read in bed until my partner gets so upset with me because she wants to go to sleep and the light is on, that I leave and continue reading on the couch forever. I pretty...
Lolita!!!!! And Prodigal Summer by Barbara Kingsolver. That book changed my life.
Also, in non-fiction: Harvest for Hope by Jane Goodall. Yes, the chimpanzee lady. It's AMAZING.
Would you PLEASE read Crow already and then rebirth my thread from like six months ago, I REALLY want to discuss it with you!!!!! :D
Myself, I've read and enjoyed Stuart McLean (he wrote the Vinyl Cafe series), Miriam Toewes (A Complicated Kindness)
I read a lot of books about feminism, and a lot of gay studies books, gay history, economics etc. Also a lot of "foodie" books, like Jane Goodall's new one.
I guess PS was a little preachy, however, I didn't mind because I found to to be preaching i think a lot of people could benefit from hearing. I love that book. In fact, I might read it again.
hahahahaha. yeah, I know, I've read the other Dan Brown, and The Constant Princess is on order. I had a HUGE TBR list on my computer but I lost it and I'm just having some trouble rebuilding it.
I'm reaching the end of my book pile and despite trolling amazon and reading pretty much every post on this site, I can't think of anything I want to read next. Here's what I've read recently:
The Queen's Fool Gregory, Philipa
The Other Boleyn Girl Gegory, Philipa
Angels and...
not often enough, I try to get a few hours in a day, always a little bit, if only a chapter or two. When I'm not working I read about 70% of the time I'm home. i have another vacation in August, I can't wait.
I really enjoyed the book and actually found it to be quite scary at times. The ending seemed to be rather predictable and I knew what was going happen around page 400. However, it was an enjoyable read, and being a Romanian who doesn't know a whole lot about her heritage it provided some...
I haven't read this book in a while, but I LOVED it when I read it a few years ago. In fact I think I still have it around here somewhere, might be a fun re-read.
