    Obesity - the win-lose situation

Flor, I have noticed nurses and doctors seem to be getting very large. You would think they would attempt to be in better shape since they should have more knowledge on the effects of obesity to one's body. Is it because of the fluctuating work schedule, lack of proper nutritious foods...

    School Shootings~

Flor I do not lack trust in myself, just crazy assholes like the man who did the shooting not only at the Amish school, but the school shooting that took place in Colorado last week. Watch the news...you want to know why I lack basic trust in most humans: 1. Algeria Insurgency 1992...

    Iraq-what should we do now?

It is great to get some input from a non-western point of view! I know many Americans who say "who cares what other people think about us!" When speaking of how international community views us. I think they are missing the point, we should always try to see ourselves as others see us. It...

    Who Are The Writers?

I have been writing short stories since the age of seventeen. Writing, although one of my greatest passions, has been an off and on endeavor. I will write several stories in a few weeks time, put them away, forget about them, and a few months later start again with new shorts. Over the...

The first sentence in the book you're reading

"The solution is to let them kill each other," the small, energetic senior citizen in the windbreaker tells me over a fiesta omelet with extra jalapenos at a Florida Waffle House. Licensed to Kill - Robert Young Pelton

    Muslim Over Reaction to...everything

I apologize for yet another tangent, but I believe this is important to the topic. Any religion's followers can be led astray. You can look throughout history and find examples as many who have posted here demonstrated. Is it possible to make a list of all religions and compare the...

    Publish or Self-publish?

I have to agree with Stewart, the question: "Why do I want to publish?" is a very important question to ask yourself. And answer yourself honestly. If your finished manuscript is saleable and you want to self publish, then coming up with two thousand dollars would be top priority...if you...

    Stephen King: Lisey's Story

Why do you keep punishing yourself eyez0nme? You know you hate King, yet you read his next novel only to bitch about his choice of descriptions? Could you express in greater detail by what you mean by personal bias? Just curious.

    Stephen King

You started off with one of my least favorite King novels. King does have problems finishing some of his stories, but almost always the ride to the end is scenic and enjoyable. Any of the aforementioned movies you watched were also great books...IMO.

    Stewie addresses Harvard

For those of you from the UK: Is Stewie's English passable as the Queens English, or a poor impression.

    Is anything possible?

Libre, This thread should be in the writers showcase!:D I agree that this is a figure of speech and not a truism. Maybe said as a glimmer of hope in a seemingly terrible situation. It could be an answer to the continuous list of questions from a child when you get tired of giving exact...

    Stephen King: Lisey's Story

You summed up Cell beautifully. I agree that a story based on zombies would be hard to keep interesting after the initial shock. A few small details aside, I think King did a good job keeping it fresh and keeping you guessing.

    Library Thing website

Just signed up for both. Each one seems promising. Looking for an easy way to transfer all my lists from Excel spreadsheets. After looking over my lists, it maybe a good time for some house cleaning. Anyone interested in used books/DVD’s, I maybe having a Crazy Justin’s Everything Must Go...

    Jericho

I used to watch Simon and Simon and really liked that show. I really like McCraney's character in the HBO series Deadwood as well. That is a role I could'nt picture him in at first, but he is great. So far I like what they have done. They have set the groundwork on what could be a really...

    Jericho

Pilots IMO are usually never as good as it the show ends up, if it is not cancelled that is. I do feel the show was a little flat. I now there is going to be a lot of poeple reacting to events and putting out fires, I just hope there is a little more to it than that. I do love the premise...

When am I *ever* getting to those?

Too many to list...I can't wait for some snow, a mug of hot cider while reading in front of the fireplace on my leather chair! Hopefully I will get through a few books on my ever expanding TBR list.:o
