I was looking into buying a kindle earlier this year...I am still not sold on the idea. Kindle on PC for reading ebooks...

I agree that King is a great writer. I threw in the "intellectual" in the King comment because of some earlier posts years ago where many folks criticized king as a hack and I defended his writing. To each his own.
I have not read any of Jodi Picoult, but I have a few friends who enjoy her...

Depends on the mood or current projects i am working. I read sometimes to learn, mostly to be entertained...and for the experience of looking at the world through someone else’s eyes for awhile...
Mostly I read because I love to read. Always have, always will.
This depends. For an edition I am going to be just reading, the cheaper the better. If it is a book by an Author I collect like Hemingway, Steinbeck, or King, then I will try to find a first edition. For my non-fiction books for my reference library, just a nice looking hardcover will do.
