    Sheri S. Tepper: The Visitor

I mostly do, but some of them are a bit drippy for my tastes. Singer from the Sea didn't do much for me. But Beauty, Grass and Sideshow are on my favourite books list.

    Sheri S. Tepper: The Visitor

The best part of that book for me was the way the aliens dealt with the pro-lifers. :D That's if I'm remembering it as the right one. I have a habit of mixing her books up in my weak brain.

    The Next President

I don't know about that. Huckabee is sticking out like a sore thumb. Nice.

    Un-Baptism

That's why they call it blind faith.

So this is where you say hello then?

I like it when there's complicated stuff that's not explained with real science because it wouldn't work with the real science and I just get annoyed. It's why I don't get on very well with Star Trek. I'm a Iain M Banks and Alastair Reynolds sort of a lass.

So this is where you say hello then?

Essex girl! :D Welcome. What sort of sci fi are we talking? Hard or soft? Or is that too much information for a first date?

You've just used this thread to have a go at helgi for attacking someone when no attack took place. You're allowed to go off topic for that but no one else is allowed to point out when you're mistaken? Grow up. And if he was attacking you in another thread hit the report button, don't drag...

    Why law WILL fail

I don't. Dead things aren't usually that capable of realising anything. Plus the act of realisation would require a brain, and headless chickens don't normally have those. Plus the law doesn't have any legs or feathers.

    Why law WILL fail

    Just the one?

    Why law WILL fail

Ooh. I think you broke him. You might have earned yourself some sort of reward.

    Un-Baptism

Failing even one means he's not the Messiah, or is that one of those handy parts of the bible that don't have to be taken literally? I'd expect better of the son of God, except that's one of those niggly little things that put him out of the running isn't it? Or is God a member of the tribe of...

    Un-Baptism

Even though he didn't fulfil all the criteria for being the Messiah? And who is it that decided what God wanted in this case? He seems to want an awful lot of different things depending on who you ask.

    Un-Baptism

And what do they say the magic water does in the eyes of the ominpotent creator of the universe? Why does he care so very much about what you squirt on your head?

    Dumping Dewey decimal-the new trend

The first half of the library should be alphabetised with each author's work in chronological or set order. The high up shelves should be boring books and duplicates. The stuff on the bottom should be heavy text books or just especially tall books. The second half of the library should be a...

    Dumping Dewey decimal-the new trend

I think books should be arranged by height and smell. The only time I've used the Dewey system is when I'm in the reference section.

    Un-Baptism

Debaptise yourself. And is 12 years old really old enough to be able to break away from the rule of your parents and speak out against years of religious conditioning? I know plenty of people who were too scared to speak out when they were children. I know plenty of people that are still...
