    Steampunk

It is pretty dense, but it's worth sticking with. I had some issues visualising the khepri, I still haven't decided in my brain how I best like the beetle head stuck on. I think in that book The Weaver is my favourite character. My favourite book of his is The Scar, there's some overlap in...

That's £50 each, by the way.

Would you participate in this book group?

The Litany rocks so hard we named a book group after her and send her £50 at the start of every month group.

    The case against summer vacation

So we could start a thread about people being thread killers without the thread killers being able to kill it?

Would you participate in this book group?

It's more about broadening your horizons than about a lengthy book discussion afterwards. You'd be the only one reading that book, and when you've finished you can post about if you liked it/hated it, if you think you'll read more books from that genre, blah, blah, blah. But as there's not a...

Break into her house and steal her diary.

    Revamping the BOTM process

That's very poor manners. Are the votes anonymous? If they are, that's the first thing I'd change. If you've no intention of playing, you shouldn't be voting. And if you're only going to read if your book choice wins, then you're probably the wrong personality type for a book of the month club.

    The case against summer vacation

Aye, but your average small school doesn't have a large team of maintenance staff. At least not when I was a nipper. My smaller schools had only one caretaker, who had to be available when we were at school in case the toilets exploded or the school fell down a well. If they're also in charge...

    The case against summer vacation

Which is fine if it's only a two week job with no risk of it over running, and as long as all the other schools in the area aren't planning on having similar work done and so competing for the same resources/workers, or else you have staggered holidays so there isn't such a massive rush on to...

    The case against summer vacation

Don't schools also have maintenance that needs doing? When will that happen if not the summer? I know year round teaching has been proposed in the UK for universities, but we're not terribly thrilled by the idea. Right now summer is when we Get Stuff Done. Building maintenance, upgrades...

You could sign up on a book by book basis. So if you haven't finished your first book yet, you skip the next round.

    Doubling Up

I can keep one going at work and one at home, it saves on carting books about with me, but I don't read any more than that at once. I have too many other things I need to get done in a day to be reading umpteen books at a time as well. I don't get the plots muddled between books but I do find...
