So I'm a bit further in and I have to say the writing certainly is beautiful. Reading Humgert's descriptions of his Lo really put you right into his sick frame of mind and I can actually feel his desires/excitement. How gross is that? Lo's mother just kicked the bucket and it's so interesting...
I have used Ebay a few times and have been pleased with the merchandise so far. The bidding can be frustrating because often someone will watch an item very closely then bid at the last 7 seconds or so and you'll lose what you thought you surely won. Of course that's perfectly "legal" and...
You know I often find that (wine better after being open a day) I'm sure it has something to do with oxygen exposure.. I remember once I opened a bottle on recommendation of a friend and downright did not like it. I failed to toss it and decided to have a glass the second day and it was fine...
Well I've just begun. Right at the start I can see in HH a very sick man. His catagorization of the nymphette aka demoniac girls between the ages of 9-14 seems to set the stage to later absolve himself of full responsibility for what I know is to eventually take place between he (an adult...
Ahhhhh... My copy finally arrived today. As soon as I finish The Girl in a Swing (which by the way is excellent) I will be submitting myself to Lolita's charms. Can't wait to see what all the fuss is and to join in this discussuion.
Sory I don't have all the authors but they shouldn't be hard to figure
Vernon God Little (?) - great book!
A Prayer for Owen Meany John Irving - my personal favorite
mr muo's traveling couch Dai Siji - Freud meets Kafka meets Woody Allen
The Historian Elizabeth Kostova - Sweeping and...
I don't have an opinion on who is the greatest liveing british author but my favorite british author is Richard Adams. I have most of his works and really love them. (Except for Shardik - this one disapointed me)
Yes I did! Sorry I've been busy at the hospital and haven't kept up with the boards as much as usual. Drank it over the course of Sunday while reading mr. muo's traveling couch. It was raining here so it was a perfect day for a good wine and a good book. Thanks for the suggestion. Keep em'...
Moses supposes his toeses are roses,
but Moses suposses erroneously :D :D
Love it!
How about this Danny Kaye one?
The flagon with the dragon has the pellet with the poison,
The vessel with the pestle has the brew that is true.
Now I'm totally of topic but Donald O'Conner and Danny...
We've been focusing on whites lately but I had a great red this weekend.
2002 Bulls Blood (of Eger). Produced in Hungary. Very big flavor, excellent with red meats or red sauced pastas. I really enjoyed this wine and would recommend it highly.
Satake is a sick bastard, that's for certain. I thought it was interesting that Satake thought of the murder as an act of love, a pure act. He repeatedly says that the victim is the only woman for him, somehow perfect and that he can't ever be with anyone else. At least until he falls for...
I read this book a very long time ago. Maybe 20 years ago. So while my memeory is quite hazy I can tell you that I also loved this book. You're comparison to a thinking man's Sherlock Holmes is, in my opinion, a good one. I was pretty young (maybe 16) when I read it and I remember the...
