Novella, I have the highest respect for you (no pun intended) and see your point in 99% of your posts. This falls in that 1% category.
I'm not going to pretend that I have all of the answers. I don't. But it seems to me that the decriminalization, at least, would save untold tax dollars in...
The author's style is pure fantasy grit taken from the headlines. From political overtones, to interracial relationships, to doing "you know what." The ending just made sense to me. Though I think the ending it's self can be interpreted in many different ways. Without there being a sequel, I...
I first joined with the intent of getting ideas on what books I would like to read and add to my library. Instead of just looking at Top 10 lists I wanted to know about the ones that I never have, or never would hear about unless I searched other avenues. And to a large degree I've done that...
I've read the first 3 of the Repairman Jack series and have the rest (except for the latest, Criscross) in my TBR pile.
They're a bit of fun. Nothing deep, and at times, just what the doctor ordered.

The only new book I've bought is Russka by Edward Rutherfurd, but this is the real reason I posted:
I finished PSS last week. It took me quite a while to get into it but I'm glad I kept at it. I could've done without 50 pages worth of discriptions on the world he built. To me, the names of...

You bring up a good point. And I shouldn't be trying to defend it without reading it first, but to paraphrase a drippy wench I know; there's a reason there are so many cliches in the genre. People are comfortable with, and enjoy that type of read.
Sure, you have to be in the right mood and...
No. This will be my first Holdstock. I heard good things about it and Celtika, so thought I'd give him a try. Same with Wolfe, as far as that goes.
And Wabbit, I wish you'd told me that before I shelled out $80 on Ash. I still have high hopes for it though. I'll let you know what...
Need someone else to stir the pot for you?
I heard the reason you were gone so long is because you got a new job at the hospital........
Wait for it........
..........putting wheels on...
Sorry it took so long for my response. I guess it's been a while since I've looked at this thread.
Indeed, I did enjoy my first Hobb book. It's much more simple than GRRM, but I liked it enough to continue buying her work. (I've only read her first and have since bought 8 others). Anything...
