Personally I don't think guns for everyone is a solution, or that it would protect or prevent other crimes. I don't think everyone is mentally, physically or emotionally capable of using one in self defense.
I do however think that comparing statistics is a little unreasonable. For one, the...
:rofl
I don't know about security experts and whatnot. But... when I am out somewhere, legally armed, I never find myself thinking "Man, if some nutcase started killing people, I sure would be sorry I have this .40 cal. in my possession right now." I don't think anyone will change my mind on...
Your in for it Hedwig. It gets better and better, or at least more addictive. I think I watched the whole second season in a few days when it was on demand through my cable. Now I'm current with the third season. They did a really good job with that series.
@ Bluenote (since I don't know how to quote anything anymore).
I was in San Antonio two weeks ago, and everybody was talking about Austin. For food, for music, for clubs, for pretty much you name it. At least so far as entertainment and good times go. It's on my list... Didn't know Gary Clark...
Anybody heard any Gary Clark Jr. ?
Pretty nice contemporary blues guy. Sounds like Jimmy's blues a little bit, and a lot of other people, but I think he is pretty talented.
Wow, that is cool and interesting. Didn't know killer whales attacked sperm whales. I watched an educational thing about sperm whales on discovery not long ago and it was pretty amazing.
The ocean is the most fascinating place that I never want to visit.
I don't think any current forum readers are big fans of Walter Mosley, and that's a shame. I had to share this anyway though because it made me pretty darn happy. After pretty much killing one of my all time favorite characters, detective Easy Rawlins, Mosley has resurrected him in a new novel...
It is a sad day for me. I realized that I am beginning to lose my enjoyment of regular paper books. The last 4 or 5 books I read were on an e-reader and I guess it sort of institutionalized me or something. I had forgotten how difficult it is to read certain books and eat at the same time. The...
@Meadow, I sort of agree with you. It does seem off to me too. I think you are right about the conspiracy people having their hands full. Obviously we don't have anywhere close to all the facts, and we probably never will, but something does feel fishy about the whole thing.
Plainsong - Kent Haruf
4 Stars
Lives intersect and interconnect in a small Colorado plains community. Simple and elegant writing. A pleasure to read.
1356 - Bernard Cornwell
4 Stars
One of my favorite Cornwell characters, the English Archer Thomas of Hookton returns to battle the French at...
Well said. I wouldn't say that I "support" gay marriage, but I don't see how the State's decision to sanction it should affect me in any way. Biblical marriage is defined by a whole lot more than what gender the participants are. For some reason though, that is all you ever hear about. I think...
Hey Meadow, the Sharpes books are great. Only reason I didn't mention them is because the OP was looking for medieval historical fiction.
Also, I just saw that Cornwell brought back Thomas of Hookton (the main character from The Archer's Tale) in a new book called "1356" subtitled "Go with God...
