Bright Lights, Big City - Jay McInerney
:stars4:
Nice story about a troubled young man living in New York and struggling with family loss, sudden divorce, and a quickly disintegrating career. His answer? Cocaine, alcohol, and loose women of course.
McInerney's writing is funny, thought...
Nicky Santoro from the movie Casino. The full quote is funnier, but includes a lotta expletives. I'm trying to honor my new years resolution regarding the F-bomb. :whistling:
Quote from movie I've seen too many times :
"...And just about the time that I'm comin' out of jail, hopefully, you'll be coming out of your coma. And guess what?...."
I don't know if the act itself would necessarily be unethical. I think you would have to ask why on earth would we do that? What would we be trying to achieve? In the article, that guy seemed to be pretty vague about how this might benefit society, or at least his answers seemed extremely...

It came as a recommendation, and after reading it I googled the author and found out it was a finalist for the National Book Award last year. There is a lot more going on in the story : A lucrative movie deal for the Bravo's story is dying, Billy's recollections of his friend that died...

I enjoyed the movie, but.... I thought I knew this story like the back of my hand and there were a lot of parts of that movie that I had no recollection of from the book. Did you guys think they added or "developed" a lot of pretty minor happenings into major story...
Billy Flynn's Long Halftime Walk - Ben Fountain :stars5:
The entire story takes place on Thanksgiving day at a Dallas Cowboys football game at Texas Stadium. Billy Lynn is now a seasoned combat veteran, recipient of the Silver Star, nominated for the Congressional Medal of Honor, and a...
Ha! Just realized I haven't changed my "currently reading" in a loooong time. I finished that book sometime last summer I think. It was good!
Good luck with Diaz. I have become a pretty big fan of his.
