I think Demille is at his best when he is injecting humor into his stories and I laughed out loud at several parts of the Gold Coast. The main character is such a wise ass. I loved it.

Salvage the Bones tells the story of four children (and a dog) living in rural poverty on the gulf coast of Mississippi in the days leading up to Hurricane Katrina. The story centers around Esch, a teenage girl (maybe 14 years old) who has just learned that she is pregnant by one of...
Nice. This actually answers some of my questions better than BeerGood did, but it is not as funny.
I am left with the conclusion that Ridley Scott did not give me enough information to figure most of the movie out. And that is sort of irritating. Oh well. That's why he got smacked down by...
well at least hopefully he won't be out again. It just irritates me, because I have a close friend who is basically doing life for a drug charge here in the U.S. and he tells me all the time about child molesters, some who are repeat offenders, who come in and leave after serving pretty minimal...
BBC News - 'Monster of Riga' Dutch paedophile jailed for 18 years
Does anyone else think this sentence is a little on the light side?

Hey there lovecraftian, just finished the story and.....
I agree with Peder. It is a great little short story. It is obvious that you are not an amateur. The writing is very accomplished and professional from a grammatical/sentence structure context.
The story itself reminds me of short...

There is something about Ethan Hawke. Something not good. Can't remember ever seeing him in anything where I didn't think someone else would have been better in that role.

I swim a little against the grain here and tend to agree with you a little bit Canuck. I am not for censorship, but I do think every child is different, and some might not be ready for this sort of thing. But again that is the parents decision. The problem comes when parents are irresponsible. I...
@Alix, I saw the movie (didn't think it was very good) and I would agree that the violence is not any more explicit than the Narnia movies or a lot of the other PG-13 stuff out there. I think like Canuck expressed it is the way that it is packaged as a bunch of kids brought together to kill each...
For the record I believe Shakespeare was an Albanian Sasquatch, but that is neither here nor there...
Welcome to the forum. What sort of "literary" fiction do you like? I try my mind at that genre every now and then. Some I like and some makes my brain hurt.
