J.D. Salinger: The Catcher In The Rye

I read it for the first time about a year ago and I really really enjoyed it, I honestly thing it is one of the best books ever written. Salinger really nailed it. Are there any similar books I could read?

John Green: The Fault in Our Stars

I did like it, read it in one day actually :). One thing bothered me, teenagers don't have such conversations, even if they have cancer and they are facing death. They more reminded me of 20something year old people, not teenagers. Or is it just me :)?

Do you ever reread your books?

Yeah, I very often reread books, that stick with me. Once a year, something like that. But they are few in numbers... :)

    What book changed your life?

Probably Bukowski. I've stumbled upon him just a few years ago and was in awe. He's just so honest in his writing and he taught me, that there are worst things, than being alone.

    Watching movies vs Reading Books

Books for sure. It's just a different, more giving media. I've never seen a film, that is better than the book.

How do you read a book?

I can't read it next to a tv, it's just not working for me. Radio? I don't know, depends. I can read in coffee shops just fine, while at home, radio needs to be turned off. Reading in nature is best.

    Goodreads

Yeah, I like it too and the reviews are mostly okay. I use it always to get some more info on a book I'm about to purchase.

    Do we learn from history?

On a personal level, yes, we learn from the past and history. As a human race, we're not learning anything, people are just too dumb, more interested in "celebrity" buts than taking action. It's just the way it is and I don't see that'll change anytime soon.

    Konichiwa minasan!

Hello to you all. I'm Nick and I'm from Slovenia. I love to read. Favourite authors, huh? Bukowski. Oscar Wilde. Knut Hamsun. John Fante. I like "raw" writing, semi-autobiographical and honest. One of my favourite question is: "What's life like for you?" and I like literature which gives me...
