That's great! Are you sure it's just spring your longing for, though? ;)

What's the best opening line of a book (fiction or non)?

Absolutely. WHen I buy a book, I look at the cover, I read the back and then I read the first sentences. If they're not good I'll just put the book back on the shelf.

I thought about this one too at first, but I don't remember there being any gems - just six different rings.

    I know, I'm needy

Charles de Lint writes really great short stories, and some of them feature the Crow Girls. I haven't read any of those stories myself, but I believe those girls turn themselves into crows and fly. Check out Tapping the Dream Tree!

How's the weather where you live?

Eh, not really. BUT - we're above zero now. It's actually 5 degrees!! And the snow has finally turned into rain! And the ice covering Gothenburg is finally melting , so I'm rather pleased. Although 10 degrees and sun sounds like heaven!

What was the best book you read in 2005?

I can't just choose one, but the three best ones were: Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell by Susanna Clarke, The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova and The Onion Girl by Charles de Lint. All three of these books mix the real and ordinary with the magically extraordinary. Very recommended reading!

J.D. Salinger: The Catcher In The Rye

I forgot to say welcome to the forum! It is really cool! And you'll be sure to find people who like C in the R, even if I don't!:)

J.D. Salinger: The Catcher In The Rye

Sorry, I don't agree at all. I thought the book was endlessly tedious and Holden Caulfield was a whiny jerk.

    Dan Brown

What is a bit annoying is that D.B. gets alot of credit for being so smart and inventive - like he came up with this idea in the first place!

How's the weather where you live?

Ohh, then it might be coming our way soon!! I'm sooooo sick of winter! The only comfort is that the weatherpeople say that as soon as the snow thaws spring will explode. I long for that! Sun! Flowers! :)

    Question Game

YES!!! If I don't get alone-time I become like a smoker desperate for a smoke - irritated, snappish and on edge. If you had to burn a book, which book woudl it be?

Does anyone remember those cheap Penguin Classics?

Hmm, that's strange. We still have them in our bookstore. I wonder if it's just that our wholesaler had some in stock? We sell alot of those actually! I bought a whole bunch when I lived in UK. They used to be 79 p at W.H.Smith! :) I think it's such a great idea to publish the classics at...

    Dan Brown

No matter what you think of his books, I think it's safe to say that Mr Brown's popularity is not in proportion to his literary talents. No writer is that good, actually. I agree with those who said that it's good that people start reading. I just hope that they move on to other authors as well...

    Question Game

Tidy, I cleaned it yesterday! But it can get pretty messy too :) What do you prefer - the majestic wildness of the ocean or the calm serenity of a small lake?

    What are women's favorite subjects?

I don't want to scare or upset astralKnight or any other man on this forum, but as it turns out, women are individuals with many different thoughts and interest. I know, it sounds crazy, but there you have it! ;)
