I like your haikus! There are probably hardcore haikuists (just made up that word) who would claim that you can't write haikus in english or that the syllables have to be exactly the right number or whatever, but from other modern haikus I've read the rules seem rather blurred. I think haikus...
I agree with you completely. If you've seen the film first you tend to think of the characters the way they were interpreted in the film, and we all know that filmmakers use a lot of artistic licence. If you have read the book first, you always tend to get a bit disappointed with their choice of...
I totally agree with you! The worst is when the backcover is just reviews too, and you can't find the actual plot of the book anywhere. Are there actually people out there who don't care what a book is about as long as the Washington Post likes it?
I have to agree with Kookamoor about the...
Well, it depends on the subject, I suppose. For example, I'm not enough into Johnny Cash to read his autobiography, but I would love to see Walk the Line. However, if it was a book on a subject that really interests me or by an author I like I would definitely read the book first.
My latest bad day was last Monday when I had my wisdom tooth surgically removed and my cheek blew up to twice its normal size (think the Godfather)and I had to stuff myself full of painkillers for the next week. And as if the pain was not enough, it cost a small fortune AND I have to do it again...
I know what you mean! I haven't read Clemens, but there are others who like to abuse apostrophes and it's the worst. Why call someone D'Natheil when you might as well write Denatheil? It's exotic enough, right?
None whatsoever! I was only kidding! It was the only way I could get into the relationship-thread! ;) Having said that, there is a certain amount of pressure on singles over a certain age to settle down. Not from this forum though, more from like...grandma ;).
During one of my many listmanias on Amazon I came across a book that I don't know the title, author, cover or story of. I don't even remember if I thought it seemed good or not. All I remember is that it was set after the Apocalypse and I think the main character was on of the riders of the...
continues to tell everyone that our heroine is really a man with fake boobs and the worst morningbreath ever. This pisses her/him off so much that she/he turns him into a handbag: http://eaglewings-eyrie.com/Armadillo%20bag%204.JPG However, her/his brother, who is a member of PETA...
...the shadows sneaking across the land, coming closer and closer, planting darkness in people's hearts. When rumour of these shadows reach our heroine and her brother the immediately decide that their only chance of survival is to...
It's like your channeling my grandma! Go inte the light grandma! ;) No, I won't do any spring cleaning. I prefer doing my cleaning a little at a time all year round.
Sunlight or moonlight?
I don't know how it is where you live, but I work in a bookstore, and that book would definitely be classed as defective, and we would simply give you a new copy, no extra charge. It's the publishers responsibility to make sure their books are ok. Unless of course if you got it at a discount...
Talk, sing, play little sketches. My co-worker says I live in my own childrens show, but I figure there are worse places to live ;).
If you couldn't live in the country you currently live, where would you live?
OK, you're right, you ARE weird! ;). But then again, maybe I am too, since I can break the spine, but not bend the cover. The breaking of the spine is mostly a matter of comfort, because it's easier to hold the book open if you break it. Or - on a psyhologically deeper level - maybe I just break...
That's not weird! I fell exactly the same way! I break the spine as soon as it's possible and take my books with me anywhere - the bath, the beach etc. However, if I have a big bag I will sometimes put the book in a small plastic bag before I put it in my bag in order to keep the pages from...
Jimmy Soul's If you wanna be happy :D :
If you wanna be happy
For the rest of your life,
Never make a pretty woman your wife,
So from my personal point of view,
Get an ugly girl to marry you.
A pretty woman makes her husband look small
And very often causes his downfall.
As soon as...
Absolutely, I didn't mean to say that they weren't human or that they didn't have the same emotions as other humans, but it's more a discussion of genetics versus upbringing. They have the same emotions as other humans, but because of their upbringing they don't always know how to think, feel or...
