Annoying sidekicks are ok, but when the protagonist is annoying the book has a problem. I hate that whiny, selfcentered Holden Caulfield. I know a lot of people love him and identify with him...I can't see why anyone would want to be like him.
Great pieces, everyone! Ice, are you Ice there as well? I just noticed that there is a pink shadow there, but that's not me, although she had some lovely photos so I might pretend it's me ;)! But to be honest, on DevArt I'm caileag, just to remove any confusion ;). Halo, are you there as well?
I am just curious: seeing as there are a lot of creative people here I was just wondering if anyone else is also a Deviant (as in Deviant Art for those who are not familiar with this community)? It would be fun to see what people are up to ;)!
I actually didn't finish this book and I don't exactly know why. It's a great idea and I liked the characters. Only explanation I can come up with is that it's written in present tense and I hate that in a book. I still think I might finish it some day though ;)
Hi Thursday and welcome! There are quite a few Fforde-fans here so special points for name. We have a Thursday Next here too somewhere althought I haven't seen her around for some time. Hope you'll stay longer!
Is it for your own vows or to read at someone elses wedding? I love this one by Elizabeth Barrett Browning:

For the ends of being and ideal grace.
I love...
I usually read about a book somewhere first, usually on the web. If I find something that sounds interesting I read reviews and if possible an excerpt. Then if it still sounds interesting I buy it. I try to keep spontaneous purchases down since they are usually more of a wild card and my TBR...
Dark. But that has never stopped me from falling in love with men of other haircolours...
If you could be a supernatural creature, what would you be? (Raven, I think I know what you will answer ;))
I suffer from occasional shortness of breath. Not related to exercize ;). I went to the doctor because I thought it might be allergy-related, but she just asked me if I was sure I wasn't hysterical. Very helpful.
I tend to hang around a certain genre for quite a while, but then I can change to a different one. Although it has been fantasy/sf for quite some time now. It's just that most mainstream genres can also be found within the fantasy/sf genre, so why switch? ;)
DS - it's just like our fantasy-novel!!! Are you maybe a reincarnation of Snuffles??!!??
Sweden is WARM today, about 25 degrees or something. And it's sunny! And of course I'm working! I'm usually unemployed these days, but of course not today when the weather is lovely, oh no, only on rainy...
I agree with Green Knight, I never start reading a series until it has been finished. At least then you know what you're getting yourself into. And I always buy just one book at a time. Not all fantasy writers are worth spending your time and money on, but if you find a good one it's great to...
