I'm sure there are more too, but that's all I can think of for now.
I read every Monica Hughes book I could get my hands on as a kid. I also loved the Bruno & Boots series by Gordon Korman.
As a teenager I devoured Tolkien and Agatha Christie's works and pretty well any other novel I could get my hands on.
Thanks Gerbam for reviving an old thread!
As I said all those years ago, I love Poirot. There will always be a spot in my heart for the Belgian detective. I've since read every Sherlock Holmes under the sun and have a greater appreciation for Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's work. I don't think I could...
It's so hard to pick a favourite... Probably Voyage of the Dawn Treader or The Silver Chair. There will always be a special place in my heart for The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe.
My least favourite is definitely The Last Battle. It came off a little too preachy in my opinion.
I agree with Jez about ridiculous character names. It's a huge turn-off, especially in the sci-fi and fantasy world.
I can't stand reading sequels to a classic written by a different author. A notable example is Mrs De Winter, a sequel to Daphne DuMaurier's Rebecca. If you liked the original...
That would depend how much money I was making. Definitely not nowadays, but I'm fairly sure my first few paycheques would have barely covered a used paperback.
It would also depend on the book. I've spent way more than I'd like to admit on university textbooks.
I'd love to try that. I haven't seen it at my local LCBO and I've tried most of their cream liqueurs. I've never tried vodka and chocolate milk, but Bailey's and chocolate milk is to die for! Heaven in a glass.
I don't like stories about perfect people. Michael Crichton's bad for it - I usually end up rooting for the bad guy just because the good guy is too irritating.
