do you keep track of the books you read?

I keep a pretty detailed spreadsheet of the books I own, have read, what I thought of them, and even the condition they're in.

    Clive Barker: Mister B. Gone

I'm glad you posted this. I'm sure my husband has this book somewhere amongst his treasures. I usually keep away from his bookshelves because I'm not into horror at all, but now I'm really looking forward to reading it!

    Why law WILL fail

To exist as part of a society we must all adhere to certain behavioural codes to co-exist. Laws generally do not dictate what we can do, but rather what we cannot. Without law, people would do whatever they liked without thinking of the impact it would have on others. That's why laws exist... to...

What was the very last series you read?

I just finished the third of Kathy Reichs' Temperence Brennan books. Although technically a series, the books could stand along. The last "traditional" series I read was TH White's The Once and Future King.

Poll: How old is the average reader on this Forum?

Funny, that's what I thought too... Now that I'm out in the "real world" I find it so hard to dedicate time to reading between running my business and my household.

Have you read all the books by any particular author(s)?

Except for all the one-hit-wonders, no. I usually set out to read them all, but one of two things always happens: Usually I get disenchanted by the author and have to stop. On rare occasions I enjoy the books so much I can't bear the thought of having nothing else by them to read, so I stop.

    Teen Magazines

Now this is an old thread. Brings back lots of memories! I agree with most of the opinions stated above. It's sad to see the world hasn't changed in the last 3 years.

Does reading books make you smarter?

I don't know if smart is the right word. To be perfectly honest, I think reading can be just as dangerous to ones intelligence as it is helpful. Now before anyone drafts an angry reply, please read on... Whenever we read, I believe we are influenced in varying degrees. I can see it in myself...

    The Aristocrats joke

I haven't heard the joke, but I doubt whether it's appropriate for this forum. Keep in mind that some of our members are children.

    Wicked-- book gone musical

I read it and loved it. It's based on the life of Elphaba, who becomes the Wicked Witch of the West. Things aren't as black and white in Oz as L. Frank Baum would have us think. The good may not be as good as they appear to be, and the wicked may be more misunderstood than we could ever...

Book-Report on Jane Austen’s “Pride and Prejudice”.

You're certainly honest about needing help, but I'm not going to do your homework for you. I suggest you try reading the book or at least a decent chunk of it. You've got plenty of time - October 20th isn't until Thursday.

    boys books

I loved the Animorphs series too. I stopped reading them when I switched schools in 7th grade and we didn't have the Scholastic Book Club anymore. I still wonder what happened to them too.

Top Ten Shoplifted Items in UK

The food, coffee and razorblades shock me. The rest I can see (and have seen) thanks to my experience living in an ugly city. I was talking to a girl who works in a nearby shopping mall. The most commonly stolen items she sees are thongs for pre-teens. How sad.

    Childhood Ideas

I used to think that some people were actually witches in disguise. I thought that if I ran up behind them fast enough I could see them as they really are before they put their mask on. I also thought for a time that you were born either male or female and later switch sexes when you become...
