The Hunger Games concept is a bit more violent than something like Narnia.
There are passages in the Bible that are conceptually just as violent and in some cases a lot more disturbing though so I'm not sure why Hunger Games would be specifically targeted as too violent.
Have you read...
I don't think I've ever actually finished reading an ebook. I have a few short stories on my kindle, but I haven't finished reading any of them. The thing just keeps running out of batteries to spite me for neglect.
Science fiction expands the border of possible. I am definitely more a fan of soft sci fi than hard sci fi. These books tend to be a bit shorter than fantasy books too, which helps because it forces the author to get to the darn point in a semi-timely fashion. I like getting invested in...
I heard Game of Thrones was good, but those books are scary big. I might listen to an audio sometime, but I'm waiting until I can get a hold of book 1...I saw book 5 in the library the other day.
Never was a vampire fan.
Legend of the seeker did sound interesting. How many season of that are there?
I'm of the opinion that the industry will change, but I don't think books are dead quite yet. There are still a goodly number of people who prefer the feel of curling up with a good book. There's something sweet about the smell of a new book.
Hey, what is your favorite book-tv or tv-book crossover series?
Which do you like better, the tv show or the books they inspired or were based upon?
The few I can think of immediately are (TV-Books):
Castle - Nikki Heat series
Rizzoli and Isles - series by Tess Gerritsen with same title (the...
I've been stalling on my second run through the game. I don't know if I'll finish it. That would be sad, but the replayability of this game just isn't up there with the other two. The first game I beat 2 and a half times, the second one 2 times, and this one 1 and so far 1/2 times.
Who is your...
Ah fantasy is a good genre. I don't care for them quite so much as mystery or sci fi, but there are some good ones. I think I'm more a fan of YA fantasy. They don't tend to be quite so long. I mean most adult fantasy books I've read are crazy long like 700 + pages. Brandon Sanderson's works are...
I haven't read any of the Alex Cross books, but I did hear a different book by James Patterson. It was okay.
The books based off of the tv show Castle are all right too...you might like those if you're a mystery fan, Gordon.
I'm very picky about sci fi stuff, but I've gotten more into forensic science type thrillers Temperance Brennan (by Kathy Reichs) or Rizzoli and Isles (by Tess Gerritsen)
I read a lot of YA...some of it is crappy or too young for me, but for the most part, I find the YA genre full of adventure and excitement.
Er, I also like a good murder mystery, but hey, you need variety in life.
Ha, if I didn't think you were already swamped with editing duties I'd send ya my latest. Well, welcome to a world where people read too much and like it.
In my opinion, the first book is great, the second is all right - fair, and the 3rd book is horrible. It's got next to nothing about the games, it's about the rebellion sparked by events in the other 2 books.
