    BOTM: Theme Suggestions

Please don't take this the wrong way, but a neat theme could be forensics or serial killers or a heavy hitting topic like human trafficking

    You now feel really old

I'd contend it's only mostly in the mind. Sometimes I want to do things like jump over a row of hedges that was a cinch as a child and teen, but 10 yrs later the darn things grow and my legs ache a whole lot more after a hard landing...ice is a whole lot less fun from this side of 30 too, go figure.

    Hello

Hey Crystal, congrats on the book. Feel free to post stuff about it over at the shameless promo section of the forum. Tell us more about yourself. What kind of stuff do you tend to read? I haunt mostly YA, sci fi, welcome, and general but there are a ton of other places to go on this forum.

why did you join the book forum?

My problem with the Book of the Month section is the lack of discipline to read the books y'all select in a timely manner. That's my problem with book clubs in general... but yes, you may interest me in that section...I will peruse it more and see if there's a month I can participate in :-P

    Best Children's Book

I love Where the Sidewalk Ends too...but I've always sort of mentally compartmentalized that under poetry rather than a kids' story. It definitely fits and is awesome though.

why did you join the book forum?

I never really thought about it. I guess I joined because I like reading and there's a shameless promo part that I can spam you all with talks of my own writings...but moreso because I learned to type on a movie forum that had a huge star wars section...and this was a natural leap from there...

Hi Kyle, have you tried Jack Higgins (spy/ agent sort of stories) or J.A. Jance (general mystery) or Thomas W. Young (thriller type books written by a former air force pilot)???

    Proper Introduction

Welcome, Randy. I come and go from the forum too. You might see me every day for a week then nothing for like 5 months. When I don't have a lot of time, I usually only get in a few welcomes to the new people and a sneak peek at the sci fi section.

Hi. I'm Bernie and I'm new here.

Jefferson Bass is a pen name for a team of writer + forensic anthropologist William Bass... The Body Farm is a great nonfiction book about forensics. Hey, welcome. I just started getting into David Baldacci's stories....most of them aren't very realistic but he comes up with some great...

The economics of self publishing e-books

Writing and self-publishing, like teaching, is something that a lot of people who don't do it, don't really understand completely. There's a lot of work that goes on behind the scenes. I'm sure having a publisher to help with the publicity bit is nice...but like anything there's a downside too.

Age guidance label for children's books?

Well, things like movie guidance things are just that...guidance in most cases. I think most truly "adult" books pick up enough of a rep to be categorized on their own. It's the teen and middle grade that you need a more refined look at what's in it.
