How do y'all stick with 1 avatar?

I wonder if somebody should set up a separate thread for people to talk about what their avatar means and why they chose it....

How do y'all stick with 1 avatar?

True. I kinda thought the pt was for it to be recognized as you...so not switching would make sense.

How do y'all stick with 1 avatar?

Laziness... remembering to switch is too much hard work.

Did you finish Rise and Fall of 3rd Reich? What'd you think of it?

    Now broadcasting on all channels...

Hi Rachel, We have a lot of the same interests. I hope you come back and tell us more about your likes/ dislikes. Feel free to open new threads or post on older ones (just try to avoid what I sometimes stumble on and answer a thread that's 4 yrs old :-P )

    Greetings to all!

Depends on which genre you're talking about. YA sci fi will soon see Brandon Sanderson's Steelheart hit the shelves...that might create some buzz.

Guessing this is where I should've first wrote...

Liking fantasy is a matter of opinion. If I were your lit teacher, I'd probably love it. (I teach chemistry not English...but I admire the fact that your teacher was/is willing to read 30 pg assignments from every single one of her students.) BTW, I found one of the stories I wrote back in...

Books for ESL 14 years old boy

This is probably a half-dead thread, but I wanted to mention the Jedi Apprentice series as easy to read, suitable for middle grade/ YA audience....seems like it would be likable to boys. (YA guys seem to be a hard lot to find things for.)

J.R.R. Tolkien: The Lord Of The Rings

Maybe someday I'll re-read them, but there's just so much other stuff out there. I do agree that the movie-book adaptations were decently done. I have a friend who listens to the score on loop while reading certain passages. Anybody else here do things like that?

What could JK Rowling write next (pertinent to HP)?

If there were more HP books, I'd prefer for them to be next generation focused. Spinoffs tend to be worse than the originals...but the HP universe is pretty open to new threats.

Guessing this is where I should've first wrote...

Stick with the writing. I got a late start, but the longer you do it, the better you'll get. (My first works are buried never to be found...but they exist so other works can get better.) You'll learn a lot of grammar rules. BTW, grammar girl rules :-P

    poirot or holmes

I've never actually read any of the Poirot stories, though the adaptations for the BBC for both are excellent. The new Sherlock Holmes works with Benedict Cumberbach are so great...about the worst part is that there's only like 3 episodes per season. The Poirot show is a bit older but still...

    Lee Child: Killing Floor

No. I think he's a terrible choice. I'd go with The Rock over Tom Cruise any day for a part like Reacher. The guy's supposed to be a mountain...or at least mountail-like. The sort where a speech like a fight of 5-1 is really only 3-1 will work.

Any Ideas For A Good Book For A 12 Year Old??

I haven't read many Caldecott books, but the few Newbery ones I've read have bored me...go figure.

    Brandon Sanderson

Okay, so I know I'm digging up the past, but I thought I'd resurrect this thread to let you all know that IMHO Sanderson's new YA book, Steelheart is an excellent read and you should definitely give it a go. (Check out the amazon reviews. 8 so far, 6 - :star5: and 2 :star4:) Amazon says it's...

Anyone else get motion sick when reading in car?

I like to listen to books on CD in a car....though I guess it would help if you're driving at that point.

Guessing this is where I should've first wrote...

Welcome, welcome. There's a lovely shameless plug place to put stuffs about your own story in...(I think...there was once upon a time). Don't mind me, I come and go as the seasons allow for idle chatter. Tell us about your reading likes and dislikes. Ask questions...it's always the best way to...
