    Brandon Sanderson

The Mistborn Trilogy was a lovely series.... perhaps on the long side, but great all the same. It's fantasy but believable. The Way of Kings was all right too. I haven't read any of his other works besides starting to read Alloy of Law.

    Suzanne Collins

Hunger Games was great, Catching Fire was good/ so-so, Mockingjay was superfluous and blah. All in all pretty disappointed in the progression of the series as a whole, but that doesn't detract from the fact that I thoroughly enjoyed Hunger Games.

    Margaret Peterson Haddix

I've only read a few of her books, but I did enjoy hearing the first in the Shadow Children series. Among the Hidden, I think it was called. It's about a boy, Luke, who is a 3rd child and so he has to remain hidden because the gov't says only 2 kids are allowed per family.

    Orson Scott Card: Ender's Game

a lot of franchise movies don't do well because the books are so well developed that the director's versions disappoint many fans.

What do you use as a bookmark?

I guess I'm too much of a cheapskate to buy a bookmark to use for regular reading. Ironic, since I spent $20 on bookmarks for my own book, as a promotional tool thing. It's weird what people will spend their money on. I suppose I'd buy a bookmark if it were star wars :-P

    Interested in Reviewing?

I'm too inept with my kindle to be much use to you anyway. Ha, Yeah, that's part of the problem with the Amazon program, you feel obligated to finish the books even if you feel they're painfully boring. I don't know how hard it is to join. I think they just invited who they want. Easiest way I...

    Blog Author Interviews

As a reader, I'd say keep it short, but I do like the idea of a clipped and longer version. Pick your 5-7 fav questions and answers then offer the full version through a link. This world is increasingly bent toward short and sweet.

    Writing software

I just use MS word, but I think if I intended to write something like a movie script or screenplay I'd invest in some actual creative writing software because they have the formatting done right.

First Book - How I got it done.

Congratulations on finishing. What is your book about? The cover copy can take a surprisingly long time to come up with. Best of luck.

    Interested in Reviewing?

Sorry, despite my sympathies and admiration for those who self publish, I'm already part of amazon's review program. Got plenty of reading from them.

    Orson Scott Card: Ender's Game

I liked the audiobook for Ender's Game, but I suppose it's just as well there's no movie for it.

Try the Mistborn Trilogy by Brandon Sanderson. He's excellent. I'm reading the 3rd in the series now.

What do you use as a bookmark?

Somebody once used money in a library book, then left it there :-P

    she deserves it

Try book 4...1 and 2 are way too kiddie for me... 3 is okay...but I did enjoy 4. Its where the danger started to become more potent.

    Bad influence of Harry Potter

I think it's a silly argument - to say that HP is a bad influence-....if that's the worst influence in a kid's life, they're in good stead. Have you heard some of the lyrics to songs these days?

Looking for good books for my 13 year old

My vote would go for Hunger Games...at least the first book. The second is a repeat of the first in essence and the Third is way different. Third book is okay. Also, if your daughter likes strange stories or video games have her try Vivian Vande Veld's Heir Apparent. It's about a girl who gets...

Stephenie Meyer: Twilight & New Moon

    Recently Purchased/Borrowed

Revan came... I'm excited for this one. Reviews so far aren't great for it though... probably because people have very high expectations for it.
