I'm not sure, since I have not read it yet but the subject matter, the story of the author and the story of how the book came to be are certainly interesting.
I read On Beauty, White Teeth and the Autograph Man, I liked On Beauty best of three but didn't care for her style at all. I can see what Beer good is saying, I liked her characters and there were great parts in all the books, for me they just didn't fall together well or something, they did...
Hello & welcome Janet :)
I was a Washington state girl myself until recently, I lived in Vancouver & Olympia. My step father and many of his friends were muscians and we saw many local bands of many types play, he also worked at Portland Music Co. for awhile. I wonder if we know anyone in...
I like grabbing random new books of the "just in shelf" at the library all the time, like today this one caught my eye Amazon.com: The Ten-Cent Plague: The Great Comic-Book Scare and How It Changed America: David Hajdu: Books (I thought it would be interesting because there is so much current...

I liked the Memory Keeper's Daughter, but I've not read anything else by her. I know she has a collection of short stories called, The Secrets of a Fire King, as well but I'm not a fan of short story collections in general. I would read another novel by her though.
Amazon.com: The Secrets of a...
I ordered an old paperback version from Ebay, it was $3 with shipping. I saw that they had a few copies available (1 signed hardcover) and some sellers ship worldwide if anyone's still looking.
That thought occurred to me too, that Emma would probably be diagnosed with depression on prescribed meds & therapy.
I wondered considering his father's treatment of his mother, if Charles would consider himself as being very romantic. His devotion to his wife was much different than the...
