For series those are 3 of my favorites :), another one of my favorites is, Otherland, series by Tad Williams -
Oh and, Icewind Dale Trilogy, by R.A. Salvatore.
For the first time in one volume, here is "New York Times" bestselling author R.A. Salvatore's adventure that introduced Drizzt...
Guns, Germs and Steel, is a very good read too, and had lots of interesting points, I think there is an older thread on here about it.

I wish you luck, I know some folks around here are great at reviews, but I am no good at them, I am more of a hobby reader. I read a lot and across all genres so I do better with help searching for books, if you are looking for something set in a certain place or era for instance, or something...

Don't get me wrong I didn't dislike it and would never discourage someone from it, it just was not quite as adult as I was...
I finished my reread and I still hold to my original review, I don't know did I post it before? If not I'll do so now.
review I really was unsure if I wanted to give a 3 or 4 star rating on this book. I really liked it and there was much to like about it, the tone was great and the setting...
Using a boy's name for my nickname all these years, I have gotten used to the misunderstanding. I actually stopped using it in real life recently but never bother to change it online :)
I do think sometimes controversial books make for the best conversations, I like a little debate sometimes...
I guess there are some similarities, now that you mention it. Rival magicians being the biggest one. I really liked Jonathan Strange, though :) Maybe because we got more into the characters there. I had a big gap between the two so I didn't pick up on any sameness, now I may have to see.
