I use and like listal too and there is a developement forum were you can make suggestions, comments and see what improvements/changes they have planned for the site.
I feel the same, I like trying something new every now and then, but I do try to vote for a BOTM that I already have or know I can pick up right away. Often the book I was hoping for does not win and I don't want to get the winning book when I have so many unread books here. I do however often...
Yes, Enid brought the most chuckles from me, her and the doctor on the ship or when she was waiting for Chip to arrive, the things she told her friends about her kids. I do think she was a typical mother figure in many ways, though amplified to comic proportions.
P.S. Ell it's always nice to...
I just finished last night and I really liked it, too. As mentioned above the characters and their stories did feel real. They were very familiar and I could identify well with them, especially the kids dealing with how & how much to care for their parents. There were several parts between...
I had some really good teachers that assigned classics I really loved, To Kill A Mockingbird was one, The Old Man And The Sea, Flowers For Algernon. I also remember reading a lot of Poe and the whole class enjoying that but all of the teachers for those assignments were very engaging.
And then...
I think the two Faulkner books (As I Lay Dying & The Sound And The Fury) I've read would be mine. I even had a lot of help from members here to get me through them but I just couldn't bring myself to like them. When I finished them I just felt like whew glad thatrs over.
I don't know why I...
I have a lot of the penguin classics, I recently bought 75 of them off ebay for about $20 s&h included. I also find them at the library free shelf all the time. I have orange ones & black ones. I have not read many of the classics and thought the price was right :)
I still listen to them from time to time, I added them to my itunes as well. They were pretty popular when I was in high school so they are one of my nostalgia bands I guess.
And to be honest I can't think of anyone on this forum that doesn't rub a few other members the wrong way. There will always be personality conflicts. Well except for abcedarian, everyone likes her, I think.
I've only looked around there but never felt like setting up an account. Everyone I know in real life using the site are quite a bit younger than me, so it doesn't feel quite right.
The movie was all right. I thought Angelina was good and as I read the book later I pictured Lisa as Jolie of course. I don't know if I would have done the same if I had read the book first but she did a pretty good job of it.
Funny I was just thinking about this book, I read it awhile ago and was thinking of giving it a reread. I had seen the movie prior to reading the book and liked the book more than expected too.
