My suggestion was already on my 'to be read' list. It's my next read, King rat. Also the control freak in me enjoys telling others what to read!!!! :)

Did anyone else watch this? I really loved this series and was truly annoyed they only made two seasons of it!!

    Suggestions: January 2011 BOTM

Do you know any Thai books that you can suggest? The idea is that we make suggestions from the country we're from. Therefore I suggested an Australian book, Landslide could suggest a book from Portugal and so on....... :)

So do you think she 'did it?' I still don't have the answer myself. Glad you enjoyed it. :)

    Suggestions: January 2011 BOTM

Mine is Eucalyptus by Murray Bail, it won two Australian awards in 1999 (and that doesn't necessarily mean it's good, but I really enjoyed it), and it's film rights were purchased by Russell Crowe but it didn't get off the ground. I have a feeling his ego may have had something to do with it...

    BOTM:Suggestions, ideas and opinions

Not sure if this idea has already popped up as I've just raced to the last page. Since people are here from all over the world, what about nominating a book that is perhaps emblemic, or award-winning in their country? I can think of quite a few Australian literature examples as I'm sure others...

September 2010: The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes

Coincidentally I'm reading Justice Hall by Laurie R King at the moment and this is the sixth book in a series that follows the fictional wife of Sherlock Holmes. The first book in the series is The beekeeper's apprentice, and it deals with Holmes meeting Mary Russell when he is supposedly...

September 2010: The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes

I read this quite a few years ago and plan to re-read it when I get it from the library. One of the genre's I looked at whilst doing my BA was detective fiction and I've found one of my research essays. So, hopefully nobody will mind and I won't bore them too much, but this is an excerpt from...

    Steampunk

Okay, have just checked Amazon and you're right, there's only one sequel The dark volume. So I've read the first book. I remember thinking the book was good but could have been three hundred pages shorter.

    Steampunk

I probably need to double check this on Amazon or some other bookshop website. I'm pretty sure that I've read the whole first book (it was pretty thick). I remember when I made my steampunk reading list, seeing two other sequels? Unless one of them was the second half? I know that the book...

    Steampunk

I bought Dream Eaters on a whim a couple of years ago and absolutely loved it. I haven't read the sequels though, and they're on my steampunk booklist..... I think I'll still check out the sequels because I loved the first so much. Did you feel that there was sexual tension between the female...

    TV box set dvd's

I agree with Heroes, but due to travel and other stuff I've missed episodes throughout and I want to re-watch it properly. I think I will definitely start my Lost dvd season purchases.

Are books on tape still considered reading?

I too would never choose listening over reading myself as I also need to hear my own inner voice. However, it was exactly the less fortunate who are unable to read that I was thinking about in comparing the two. My grandfather lost his sight many years ago and was an avid reader, so I'm always...

    Steampunk

I read the first Philip Pullman a few years ago and couldn't quite get into the series. I think it was maybe the talking bears?? Recently I recorded The golden compass but I'm yet to sit down and watch it.
