Try Richelle Mead or L.J. Smith. Both authors also write vampire romance for young adults. I'd also suggest Charlaine Harris or Kim Harrison if you don't want to stick to YA fiction. And if you're looking for a non-romantic novel, I highly recommend you pick up Anne Rice's The Vampire Lestat.
This was a letdown. Most of the novel is comprised of lengthy discussions about magic and strategy. Those were present in his other books but those also had more adventure. Goodkind brings back many well-loved characters (Zedd, Nicci, Nathan, Cara) but tends to keep them in the background, only...

Hmm. So far I'm not enthused with this. Reed's vocals really don't mesh well with the music.
Right now, I can only suggest Poppy Z. Brite's Drawing Blood. It's about a drifter who returns home and discovers his childhood house is haunted. Warning you now: some scenes are not for the close-minded/homophobic.
