Can you say the same for Vampyres (regarding the cinematography)? Because Black Candles almost had a home-movie look to it.
Near Dark wasn't bad. I really liked the vampire family in that movie. It had a great music score as well.
Any thoughts on him? I recently read The Man Who Fell to Earth after buying the film version on DVD. The movie is very surreal and vague, but I found the novel surprisingly easy to digest. I was surprised to learn he also wrote The Hustler and The Color of Money. I'd like to read those at some...
In the U.S. it opens this Friday. Limited release, however, so I don't think it'll be playing in any theaters near me (boo).
On a more positive note, the movie has earned good reviews so far.

I thought it would've taken him another year at the least. I'm waiting until the series is complete before I return to it. And yes, I realize that will be a very long wait.
It reminds me of The Dead Zone and Johnny Smith's obsession with the "would you go back in time and kill Hitler?" question. Seems like King wanted to do another story about that query. I'm not that excited judging by the plot synopsis, but it's King so I'll try the book anyway.
I understand your frustration, but I'd say this board is still a nice place for book discussion. There's really only one or two crazy threads here (as far as I know).
I usually read historical mysteries. I was addicted to John Maddox Roberts' SPQR novels; those are good if you're looking for brisk, easy reads. I also recommend Ariana Franklin's Mistress of the Art of Death series. Caleb Carr's The Alienist was probably one of the best books I've ever read.

From the best list, I've only seen Stephen King's The Mist and The Shining. I wish the article writer included Thinner in the five worst list, but I agree with most of his picks otherwise.
